PREFORMANCES WITH ALLISON CHARNEY first evening concert of the 2017-18 season will feature preeminent musicians Kajsa William-Olsson, Elizabeth Mann, Donna Weng and the ARK trio (soprano Allison Charney, cellist Kajsa William-Olsson, pianist Reiko Uchida) in exclusive preview preformances - anticipating their upcoming appearances on the world's most prestigious stages. Russian conductor Semyon Bychkov and the Czech Philharmonic's recording of Tchaikovsky's Manfred Symphony is released on Tuesday, August 25, as Volume 2 in The Tchaikovsky Project, their recording cycle on Decca Classics that will encompass the composer's complete symphonies and piano concertos, as well as selected orchestral works. The cycle was launched in October 2016 with a recording of the composer's Sixth Symphony (“Pathétique”) and Romeo and Juliet Fantasy Overture. Pre-orders are available now through Amazon and iTunes.

Caf Valley Bakery, a leading bakery product producer, is partnering with a legendary soda brand to expand its existing soda cake lineup with a Dr Pepper Cake. The new cake will join an array of soda cakes including 7UP, Orange Crush, and A&W Root Beer, and will be unveiled at the upcoming International Dairy Deli Bakery Association (IDDBA) show in Anaheim, Calif., June 2 6 at booth 3901. The new flavor will be available in grocers nationwide in June with a suggested retail price of $5.99 per package.

Music Director Riccardo Muti returns in April to lead the Chicago Symphony Orchestra (CSO) in three weeks of subscription concerts.  Muti and the CSO conclude the CSO's season-long presentation of Beethoven's piano concertos in a performance of the Piano Concerto No. 5 (Emperor) with Radu Lupu as soloist followed by a rare performance of A Symphony to Dante's Divine Comedy by Liszt (April 27-29 ). Muti's residency with the CSO culminates with performances of the complete cycle of symphonies by Johannes Brahms (May 4-9 and May 11-13). During his residency, Muti also leads the Civic Orchestra of Chicago in a free, open rehearsal on April 30.

Beginning 10 May 2017, Gallerie dell'Accademia di Venezia will present the work of the pre-eminent American painter Philip Guston (1913 - 1980) in a major exhibition exploring the artist's oeuvre in relation to critical literary interpretation. In a spirit reflective of how Guston himself cultivated the sources of his inspiration, 'Philip Guston and The Poets' considers the ideas and writings of major 20th century poets as catalysts for his enigmatic pictures and visions. Featuring works that span a fifty-year period in Guston's artistic career, the exhibition includes 50 major paintings and 25 prominent drawings dating from 1930 until his death in 1980. The exhibition draws parallels between the essential humanist themes reflected in these works, and the language and prose of five poets: D. H. Lawrence (British, 1885 - 1930), W. B. Yeats (Irish, 1865 - 1939), Wallace Stevens (American, 1879 - 1955), Eugenio Montale (Italian, 1896 - 1981) and T. S. Eliot (American-born, British, 1888 - 1965).

The New York Philharmonic will present Beloved Friend - Tchaikovsky and His World: A Philharmonic Festival, January 24-February 11, 2017, featuring Russian-born Semyon Bychkov conducting works by Tchaikovsky as well as composers he was influenced by and whom he influenced, with piano soloists Yefim Bronfman and Kirill Gerstein.

The National Portrait Gallery is to stage the first exhibition devoted entirely to portraits by Paul Cezanne, it was announced today, Thursday 8 December 2016. This major new exhibition, Cezanne Portraits, will bring together for the first time over 50 of Cezanne's portraits from collections across the world, including works never before on public display in the UK.

Sheffield Theatres and English Touring Theatre today announce full casting for Phillip Breen's adaptation of D.H. Lawrence's classic novel LADY CHATTERLEY'S LOVER, which opens at the Crucible on 26 September before a UK tour to Oxford, York, Malvern, Salisbury, Brighton and Cambridge. Breen directs a cast including Hedydd Dylan as Lady Chatterley and Jonah Russellas Mellors. The company is completed by Aretha Ayeh, Will Irvine, Ciaran McIntyre, Eugene O'Hare, David Osmond, Rachel Sanders and Alice Selwyn.
