"Baby" tells the story of three couples on a university campus as they deal with the painful, rewarding and agonizingly funny consequences of this universal experience. There are the college students, barely at the beginning of their adult lives; the 30-somethings, having trouble conceiving but determined to try; and the middle aged parents, looking forward to seeing their last child graduate from college when a night of unexpected passion lands them back where they started.

The program includes the world premiere of Waiting at the Station with a commissioned score by New Orleans music legend Allen Toussaint. Sharing the program with Waiting at the Station are the Scottish-inspired Brief Fling (a PNB premiere) and Tharp's homage to Ol' Blue Eyes and ballroom dance, the unforgettable Nine Sinatra Songs. Happy Birthday Leslie Uggams! Uggams starred in Hallelujah, Baby!, which premiered on Broadway in 1967, and won the Tony Award for Best Actress in a musical. She appeared on Broadway in the revue Blues in the Night in 1982 and in the musical revue of the works of Jerry Herman, Jerry's Girls in 1985. Later Broadway roles include Muzzy in Thoroughly Modern Millie (2003 - 2004) and Ethel Thayer in On Golden Pond at the Kennedy Center in 2004 and on Broadway at the Cort Theatre in 2005. In 2001 she appeared in the August Wilson play King Hedley II, receiving a nomination for a Tony Award for Best Actress in a Play.

Tony Award winning actress Daisy Eagan and her boyfriend, writer, Kurt Bloom, are pleased to announce the birth of their (completely unplanned, yet gleefully welcomed) first child, Monty Harrison Eagan-Bloom. Monty was born at 3:53 am on Saturday, May 11, 2013 at Cedars Sinai Hospital is Los Angeles. Monty entered this world at 7 pounds 14 ounces, 20 and 1/2 inches long. Both mother and baby are happy and healthy. Eagan said, 'Monty is perfect and amazing. His interests include eating, sleeping, pooping and watching Mad Men. And, as our neighbors are quickly learning, he is a coloratura.'

However, when her niece lost control of her childbirth experience, coupled with the escalating medical interventions and Caesarian Section rates, not to mention the poor diet and lack of exercise prevalent in today's western culture, it becomes apparent to seasoned midwife, nurse and author Irene Chain-Kalinowski that somehow women have lost faith in their ability to give birth. The traumas of the uncelebrated childbirth of her niece impelled Chain-Kalinowski to publish her new book, aptly titled My Body My Baby: Take Charge of Your Childbirth Experience and Celebrate It.

The Film Society of Lincoln Center presents the film series Foxy, The Complete Pam Grier (today, March 15-17). Screening at the Walter Reade Theater (165 West 65th Street) and the Elinor Bunin Munroe Film Center (144 West 65th Street), and highlighted by the attendance of Grier at several screenings, the film series includes such fan favorites and notable classics as THE BIG BIRD CAGE (1972), COFFY (1973), ESCAPE FROM LA (1996), FOXY BROWN (1974), and GREASED LIGHTNING (1977), as well as JACKIE BROWN (1997) featuring her Golden Globe and SAG Award nominated performance in the title role.

Winners of the 2009 New Jersey State Council on the Arts' Literary Artist Fellowship Program will present their work in Madison, Hoboken, Long Beach Island and Somerville over the next few months. Prose writers Iyanna Jones, Pamela Burke and Emil Draitser will present solo readings of selected stories at Monroe Arts Center on March 9, 2013 at 7:30pm. Playwright Dominique Cieri will have a reading of her play Count Down performed on March 16, 2013 at 7pm at Fairleigh Dickinson University. She also had a reading of her play The Baby Killer Play on December 18, 2012. Additionally, playwright, Pia Wilson, had a reading of her play The River Pure for Healing on December 14, 2012. Both readings were held at Fairleigh Dickinson University as part of Playwrights Theatre's FORUM Roundtable Reading Series. Poets Kathleen Graber and Peter Murphy as well as Young Adult Prose writer, Toni De Palma, will read their works at a site to be determined in Southern New Jersey. In May, prose writers Eson Kim and Roxanne (Ruchama) Feuerman will present selections from their works at a site to be determined.
