Starz Gives Adaptation of Neil Gaiman's AMERICAN GODS Script-to-Series Commitment; Bryan Fuller Boards as Showrunner

Starz has announced a script to series development of FremantleMedia North America's (FMNA) adaptation of Neil Gaiman's acclaimed urban fantasy novel 'American Gods.' The pilot script will be penned by Bryan Fuller ('Hannibal,' 'Pushing Daisies,' 'Heroes') and Michael Green ('The River,' 'Kings,' 'Heroes'), who will also showrun the series. They will executive produce along with Gaiman. FremantleMedia North America will produce the series.

Kentucky Shakespeare's summer season closes on August 17 with Savage Rose Classical Theatre Company's critically acclaimed "King Lear," starring J. Barrett Cooper, the company's founder, as the titular king. It will be a swan song of sorts, for it will be Cooper's final performance with the company, and in Louisville - at least for the time being.

Nickel Creek Debuts New Album; Comes to Mesa Arts Center, 8/28

The Grammy Award-winning, multi-platinum selling trio Nickel Creek - Chris Thile (mandolin/vocals), Sara Watkins (fiddle/vocals) and Sean Watkins (guitar/vocals) - officially reunited for the first time since its 2007 "indefinite hiatus" and recorded a new album, A Dotted Line, that was released by Nonesuch on April 1, 2014. The record debuted on the Billboard 200 at #7, Nickel Creek's highest chart position to date, with 27,000 units sold. Nickel Creek began its first US tour in seven years on April 16 in Birmingham, AL and will stop at Mesa Arts Center for one show on Thursday, August 28. A soon to be announced special guest will open the 7:30 p.m. show. Tickets go on sale this Monday, June 30 at 10 a.m. at livenation.com, mesaartscenter.com and at the Mesa Arts Center Box Office, at 480-644-6500.

The schedule for this summer's Lincoln Center Out of Doors festival, which runs from July 20 to August 10, was announced today by Bill Bragin, Lincoln Center's Director of Public Programming. Nearly 100 free performances will take place across the plazas of Lincoln Center during three weeks. A special Memorial Concert for Pete and Toshi Seeger on July 20 will be followed by the official opening concert on July 23 with Larry Harlow's Hommy: A Latin Opera, the landmark work's first performance in 40 years.
