Europe Begins 'Balls N' Banners' Tour February 17, 2011

Academy Events and the Gig Cartel in association with The Agency Group are pleased to announce Europe's Balls N' Banners UK Tour 2011. Hot off their knockout performances at 2010's iTunes Festival in London and the Sonisphere Festival at Knebworth, Sweden's biggest hard rock band will undertake a nationwide UK tour in February 2011 (their first since 2010's Last Look At Eden tour). All tickets are priced £17.50, with the exception of London (£18).

LA Philharmonic Announces Conductors for 2010/11 Dudamel Fellowship Program

Beginning with the Los Angeles Philharmonic's 2010/11 season, four conductors will participate in the Dudamel Fellowship Program. Music Director Gustavo Dudamel, together with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, created the Dudamel Fellowship Program (in 2009)to provide a unique opportunity for promising young conductors from around the world to develop their craft and enrich their musical experience through personal mentorship and participation in the LA Phil's orchestral, education and community programs.

The Los Angeles Philharmonic Association's 2010/11 Toyota Symphonies for Youth (TSFY) concert series at Walt Disney Concert Hall continues on Saturday, February 19, at 11 a.m., with an original concert production designed to educate young audiences about the differences and similarities of jazz for the orchestra and for a quintet. Young audiences will learn about listening and teamwork, how to 'speak jazz,' and be introduced to improvisation and scatting through participation and musical demonstrations featuring excerpts from Dvork's Symphony No. 9, Mingus' Better Git It In Your Soul, Bernstein's Times Square 1944, Ellington's It Don't Mean A Thing and two special arrangements of Itsy Bitsy Spider and Arachnology, arranged especially for this production. This concert repeats on Saturday, February 26 at 11 a.m.
