Buck Creek Players, the award-winning all volunteer community theater on Indianapolis' southeast side, is set to honor the memory of Jack Peek with the third biannual Buck Creek Players Play-A-Part Fundraiser production of Rodgers and Hammerstein's classic Broadway musical, The Sound of Music.
New York City Center's 2009-10 season begins on September 22 with the sixth annual Fall for Dance Festival, featuring 20 companies in 10 nights of dance for only $10 per ticket. Wendy Kesselman's 'The Black Monk', which ran Off-Broadway from November 30th, 2008 through January 3rd, 2009, featuring Austin Pendleton, Elon Rutberg, Julie Craig, and Scott Robertson - under the direction of Kevin Newbury and musical direction of Chris Berg (with cellist Arthur Cook), will be making an original cast recording on Monday, May 25th, 2009. The album will be produced/engineered by Grammy Award winner John Kilgore. It will be released online in the fall exclusively on iTunes, and a record deal is pending.

The Public Theater (Artistic Director Oskar Eustis; Executive Director Andrew D. Hamingson) announced complete casting and creative team today for FATHER COMES HOME FROM THE WARS (PARTS 1, 8 & 9), the final play of the 2008-2009 Public LAB season. Written by Suzan-Lori Parks and directed by Jo Bonney, FATHER COMES HOME FROM THE WARS (PARTS 1, 8 & 9) will begin performances on Friday, June 5 and run through Sunday, June 28. Tickets are $10 for all performances and are on-sale now.
This classic comedy features two sweet old ladies... who poison lonely men as an act of charity. One of their nephews is a serial killer. Another thinks he's Teddy Roosevelt. The third just wants to marry his girl and keep his aunties safe from the Brooklyn Police Department. There are a slew of dead bodies buried in the cellar and another in the window seat. Because murder, insanity and family are very Dysfunctional.
