This week, I sat down with Janelle Lutz backstage at The Firehouse Theatre, moments before she took the stage for her second (and final) dress rehearsal for THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE, which runs February 18th through March 6th. Lutz (pronounced 'loots,' although she doesn't correct those that rhyme her name with klutz) shared her affection for Julie Andrews' portrayal of the role in the 1967 movie, and admitted some intimidation in following in Sutton Foster's Broadway shoes. As we talked about her exciting stage opportunities around DFW, I couldn't help but observe how one of DFW's largest stage personalities is also one of the most sincere, humble performers I've had the chance to speak with. Upon the end of our conversation, when I gave Ms. Lutz the opportunity to add anything I may have overlooked, she thought for a moment and responded: 'I'd just like to say thank you to the Dallas theatre community. This is my family; they've taken huge chances on me.'

What do you think of when someone says 'Grease'? The movie? The most recent revival? The original Chicago production? Whichever one, chances are hand-jives, summer lovin' and Sandy's iconic 'bad girl' outfit are a few things that come to mind. Grease and it's beloved Pink Ladies and T-Birds (or Burger Palace Boys, as they were originally called!) have had a long journey from Chicago to Fox's upcoming production of Grease: Live, that will air tonight, Sunday, January 31st!

Warlow has forged an enviable reputation over the span of his career, on the operatic and commercial theatre stage. Blessed with a thrilling voice and a gift for mimicry, he has successfully inhabited an extraordinary diversity of roles from high opera to musical comedy, and his versatility has enthralled Australian audiences ever since his 1981 debut with the Australian opera at the age of 19. With another month left at the Lunt Fontanne Theatre, Warlow recently checked in with BroadwayWorld about how he got the part, why he loves the role, and so much more!
