Bay Street Theater Announces Upcoming Saturday Nights, Including Poundstone, Lewis and Busch

Bay Street Theater is pleased to announce three upcoming special Saturday nights beginning Memorial Weekend on May 24 with Paula Poundstone. Richard Lewis will be on stage June 2l and audiences can spend "A Divine Evening with Charles Busch," accompanied by Tom Judson on July 26. All shows start at 8 pm. These special evenings include VIP ticket opportunity to mix and mingle with the artist at a cocktail party either before or following the performance, depending upon the night. The GTG Golden Shamrock Award is given annually for artistic contribution to society. Past honorees include Terrence McNally, Judith Ivey, Brian Murray, and Robert Osborne. Primary Stages, Daryl Roth, and Ted Snowdon in association with Jamie deRoy has announced a two week extension for The Tribute Artist, a new world premiere comedy written by and starring Tony-nominee Charles Busch (The Divine Sister, The Tale of the Allergist's Wife, Olive and the Bitter Herbs). Extended through March 30 at Primary Stages at 59E59 Theaters, the production is directed by Busch's long-time collaborator Carl Andress (The Divine Sister, The Third Story), and features Mary Bacon (Harrison, TX...; Giant), Cynthia Harris (Lost in Yonkers, 'Mad About You'), Julie Halston (Olive and the Bitter Herbs, Anything Goes) Keira Keeley (Angels in America, The Glass Menagerie), and Jonathan Walker (The Assembled Parties, The Divine Sister).

The American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) Master of Fine Arts (M.F.A.) Program continues to grow its annual Will on Wheels program, which tours works of William Shakespeare to schools around the Bay Area, with a record-setting 24 performances this year. The 2014 Will on Wheels tour spotlights abridged versions of two Shakespeare classics: Romeo and Juliet and a two-woman production of As You Like It. Both productions feature student actors from the A.C.T. M.F.A. Program class of 2015.
