The American Repertory Theater (A.R.T.) announced today that John Lithgow will be performing his theatrical memoir Stories By Heart to benefit the A.R.T. on Monday, May 2 at 7:30pm at the Loeb Drama Center, 64 Brattle Street, Cambridge.

In this role she will perform three concerts with the Orchestra, conducted by Alan Gilbert, Michael Tilson Thomas, and Michael Francis (in his Philharmonic debut); two chamber concerts - with violist Yuri Bashmet and cellist Lynn Harrell in the first - and double bass player Roman Patkoló and Philharmonic musicians in the second; and a recital with her long-time collaborator, pianist Lambert Orkis. Ms. Mutter's programs will reflect a mix of eras, offering established violin repertoire alongside new works.

The Toronto production will feature four of the original cast of five including Akosua Amo-Adem (who won the SummerWorks 2009 Award for best new emerging artist for her portrayal), Antonio Cayonne, Jessica Greenberg and Kevin Walker. Actor/playwright Andrew Kushnir will play himself in the production for the first time. The Middle Place runs October 21 to November 14, 2010, at TPM's Mainspace and moves to Canadian Stage's Berkeley Street Theatre, February 14 to March 12, 2011, before embarking on a tour to Ottawa and Victoria. During the 2010-2011 and 2011-2012 seasons, 33 U.S. opera companies both large and small and from coast to coast will perform works - including nine world premieres - by American composers, announced OPERA America, the national service organization for opera.
