Godspell is a unique and joyful musical based on the Gospel of Matthew. Debuting Off-Off-Broadway in 1971, it features a catchy and eclectic score by Stephen Schwartz (composer of Wicked and Pippin) alongside a book by John-Michael Tebelak.
A loose-knit group of performers portray Jesus and his disciples. Through a mix of games, pantomime, vaudeville, and contemporary music styles, they bring Jesus' parables and teachings to life. The iconic song "Day by Day" is featured in this energetic show.

Non-profit Provision Theater Company launches its 2013-2014 season with Red Letter Jesus, a deeply moving new show of Jesus' words from the synoptic gospels (Matthew, Mark and Luke) performed with an original multimedia presentation, including stunning videography captured throughout Israel and Jordan. Happy Birthday, Chad Kimball! After moving to New York, he was hired for the Broadway musical, The Civil War, joining the show 3 weeks before it closed. He was in the Off-Broadway revival of Godspell (2000) and the Broadway revival of Stephen Sondheim's Into the Woods (2002) as Milky-White the cow. He appeared in the Broadway musicals Lennon and Good Vibrations in 2005. Kimball originated 'Huey' in the musical Memphis at the La Jolla Playhouse in 2008, starred in the Broadway production, and earned a Tony nomination for his performance.
