From September 5-15, 2013, Houston Ballet launches its 44th season with a mixed repertory program of premieres by emerging and established choreographers. Famed choreographer James Kudelka will create a new work for the company. British master and Houston Ballet's associate choreographer Christopher Bruce's Intimate Pages will have its Houston Ballet premiere. World premieres by Garrett Smith and Melissa Hough round out the program.

The Los Angeles Philharmonic presents the Tchaikovsky Spectacular with Fireworks, Friday and Saturday, August 16 and 17, at 8 pm, at the Hollywood Bowl. Robert Moody conducts the orchestra in the all-Tchaikovsky program which includes Selections from Swan Lake Suite, Op. 20, Capriccio Italien, Festival Coronation March and a Ukrainian Folk Song Suite (drawn from the Symphony No. 2). The annual Bowl tradition offers a new twist this season - the brass, drum corps and color guard of three of California's top-ranked drum and bugle corps, Pacific Crest, Santa ClaraVanguard, and the Vanguard Cadets, recent winners of the Drum Corp International Open Class World Championship Finals, performing in a Drumline-style collaboration. The program culminates with the thrilling 1812 Overture accompanied by cannons and a spectacular fireworks display.
Critically acclaimed theatre company The Playwrights Realm has announced the cast and creative team for the New York premiere of Lauren Yee's new play The Hatmaker's Wife, directed by recent OBIE Award winner Rachel Chavkin (Natasha, Pierre, and the Great Comet of 1812). The Hatmaker's Wife marks the first Playwrights Realm production at the Peter Jay Sharp Theater (416 West 42nd Street) in midtown Manhattan, following previous engagements in several downtown Off-Broadway venues. Previews begin Tuesday, August 27, for an opening Thursday, September 5.

The Royal Shakespeare Company will present dual stage adaptations of Hilary Mantel's bestselling books, WOLF HALL and BRING UP THE BODIES. Adapted for the stage by Mike Poulton, Mantel's books chronicle Cromwell's rise to power during the tumultuous reign of Henry VIII.

It's a fond farewell for Pacific Symphony's beloved Assistant Conductor Maxim Eshkenazy, as he leads Pacific Symphony Youth Orchestra (PSYO) in their 2012-13 'Spring Concert.' During his five-year tenure as music director of PSYO, Eshkenazy has enhanced the ensemble's creativity through unique collaborations, performances of contemporary music, interdisciplinary projects and its first international tour to his native country, Bulgaria. In 2012, the ensemble was named Youth Orchestra of the Year by Classics Alive, and a record-breaking 402 people auditioned for the current season. In the spirit of these accomplishments, the Pacific Chorale Honor Choir (PCHC), led by Robert Istad, joins PSYO (for the fourth time) in a performance of masterpieces and music that holds a personal connection to the maestro.
