Shattered Globe Theatre concludes its 2018-19 Season with Kate Fodor's drama HANNAH AND MARTIN, directed by SGT Ensemble Member Louis Contey*. This World War II drama in which a passionate love affair is abruptly interrupted by political realities will play April 11 - May 25, 2019 at Theater Wit, 1229 W. Belmont Ave. in Chicago.

After fantastic audience and critical response, BAREFOOT, a daring new sexual escapade by Kate T. Billingsley and Thomas G. Waites, will extend through March 2 at the Gene Frankel Theatre when it began performances on January 24. BAREFOOT is produced by Black Rose Productions and directed by Thomas G. Waites (Awake and Sing! with Frances McDormand, Al Pacino's King Richard III).

Theatre Philadelphia proudly announces the return of Philly Theatre Week with 81 organizations, 100 events and 315+ performances between February 7 to 17, 2019. Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater announces the full company for Ruth and Augustus Goetz's melodrama, The Heiress, suggested by the Henry James novel, Washington Square. After growing up subjected to her father's disinterest and strong resentment, a young woman in the 1850s discovers what love is in her journey towards independence, growth and strength, without an impactful female role model in her life. Directed by Deputy Artistic Director Seema Sueko, The Heiress runs February 8 - March 10, 2019 in the Fichandler Stage.

Introducing an auspicious new voice in American theatre, The Hour of Great Mercy by Miranda Rose Hall, is a tender, insightful and compassionate story about our collective relationship to illness, family, and redemption.

Bay Street Theater is pleased to announce two of the three productions planned for the 2019 Mainstage Summer Season. The first will be the World Premiere of SAFE SPACE, which will run from May 28 - June 16. This new play is by Alan Fox and will be directed by three-time Tony Award Winner Jack O'Brien (The Hard Place, Hairspray, The Coast of Utopia).

Transport Group has announced that casting for The Trial of the Catonsville Nine, written by Daniel Berrigan and directed by artistic director Jack Cummings III, includes Mia Katigbak (Awake and Sing!, I Remember Mama), Eunice Wong (Mourning Becomes Electra, Smart People) and David Huynh (Henry VI, A Midsummer Night's Dream). The Trial of the Catonsville Nine runs Wednesday, January 16 through Sunday, February 23, 2019 at the Abrons Arts Center, 466 Grand Street. The opening night is scheduled for Wednesday, February 6 at 7:30pm.

The multiple Tony award-winning Lincoln Center Theater production of Rodgers and Hammerstein's THE KING AND I is coming to cinemas around the world this autumn. THE KING AND I: FROM THE PALLADIUM, filmed on stage at the iconic London Palladium, will open in cinemas for one night only on November 29. Tickets are now on sale.

I love sad plays. I love stories of miserable families who love each other but don't know how to express it in healthy ways. AWAKE AND SING!, now playing at Artistry's black box theater, is one such tragically beautiful and beautifully tragic play, like Tennessee Williams set in the Bronx. Or rather, since Clifford Odets' 1935 play predates Williams' major works, I guess I should say that Tennessee Williams is like Odets set in the South. The multi-generational Berger family has become beaten down by life, with the younger generation trying to break free and make a new life in this new country, if only it will let them. With a strong cast and detailed design in an intimate space, Artistry's production is beautiful and heart-breaking.

Full casting was announced today for City Lit's season opener, George Bernard Shaw's comedy ARMS AND THE MAN. Set during the 1885 Serbo-Bulgarian war, it satirizes the folly of armed conflict. City Lit's production will be directed by Brian Pastor, Artistic Director of Promethean Theatre Ensemble and director of City Lit's fall 2017 production of J.B.  

ArtsEmerson presents the New England premiere of BORN FOR THIS - A NEW MUSICAL, based on the life story of Bebe Winans and his sister Cece Winans, offspring of a spiritual, musical Detroit family, who made a huge splash as teenagers on the Praise the Lord network of Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker in the 1980s. With a book by Charles Randolph-Wright, Bebe Winans, and Lisa D'Amour, and original music and lyrics by Winans, the majority of which were written for the show, BORN FOR THIS offers a longitudinal view of the Winans journey from music biz hopeful, to fledgling performer, to breakout R&B star, and award-winning (six Grammys) artist. Under the slick direction of Randolph-Wright and music director Steven Jamail, the cast is extraordinary from top to bottom, with Donald Webber Jr. and Loren Lott giving star turns as Bebe and Cece.

After a successful run in Central Park, playing to over 4,000 people, performances resume on Wednesday, June 27 in Rockefeller Park/Battery Park City for New York Classical Theatre's critically acclaimed production of Romeo and Juliet, directed by the company's Founding Artistic Director Stephen Burdman. The production will play this week through June 30, before continuing on to The Battery, Carl Schurz Park, and Brooklyn Bridge Park for performances through July 29.
