March 20, 2003. A date that the ordinary people of Iraq will never forget. A day that changed their lives forever. The day the Americans arrived in their country. New York Theatre Workshop sent Jessica Blank and Erik Jensen, the award-winning creators of The Exonerated, to Jordan in June 2008 to find out firsthand what happened to the Iraqi civilians as a result of the events that began on that fateful day. They interviewed some 35 people—a cross-section of lives interrupted—who fled the chaos and violence that befell Iraqi society for the relative safety of Jordan. Following the visit to Amman, Jessica and Erik crafted their conversations with the Iraqis and have turned them into an unforgettable theatrical event.

The New York Times is reporting that the producers of Broadway's GOD OF CARNAGE have opted not to pursue a National Tour at the moment, fearing that a tour would not run long enough to make the endeavor financially beneficial. Producers, who had been doing the initial legwork for a tour for several months and had even gotten some commitments from actors, anticipate that a tour would need to run at least 26 weeks to recoup, and not enough theaters signed onto the tour in the 2010-2011 season to guarantee they would hit this mark.

The Dumbo Arts Center (DAC) is pleased to announce Battlefields, an exhibition of photographic works by New York based artist, Nebojša Šeri?-Shoba. Taken over a 10 year period (from 1999 to 2009), the featured works, documentations of actual battlefields, call into question the autonomy of "place": the disparity that exists between historical events and the geographic locations in which they occur. Apart from the occasional historic marker or didactic memorial plaque, little visual evidence remains to distinguish one site from another, a disconnect that evokes the transient nature of history, the arbitrary lines of the battlefield and the universality of the theaters of war.
