Lincoln Center Theater Cancels WAR HORSE and VANYA AND SONIA AND MASHA AND SPIKE, 10/30

Lincoln Center Theater has announced that it has been forced to cancel tomorrow night's (Tuesday, October 30) performances of both "War Horse" in the Vivian Beaumont Theater and "Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike" in the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater due to the ongoing storm and the shutdown of the New York City transit system.

The National Theatre's award-winning production of War Horse is currently playing the New London Theatre, and will egin a full UK tour in Fall 2013, according to The Stage. While official tour dates and venues have not yet been confirmed, executive director Nick Starr revealed that in addition to the West End, Broaway, and upcoming Toronto production, there are also plans to open in Australia, Japan, and South Africa.

A new charity, Families of the Fallen, has been set up to provide extra funding for the families and other dependants of members of the UK's armed forces who have given their lives in Afghanistan and Iraq. It will be officially launched on November 11 at a special Remembrance Day performance of the acclaimed play War Horse, with the National Theatre generously donating all proceeds from sales of tickets made using the promotion code 3030. A special fund-raising reception after the show will hear from the play's author, Michael Morpurgo, and Sally Thorneloe, widow of Lt Col Rupert Thorneloe, Commanding Officer of the 1st Battalion Welsh Guards, who was killed by an explosion in Helmand Province.
