Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater announces the full company for Ruth and Augustus Goetz's melodrama, The Heiress, suggested by the Henry James novel, Washington Square. After growing up subjected to her father's disinterest and strong resentment, a young woman in the 1850s discovers what love is in her journey towards independence, growth and strength, without an impactful female role model in her life. Directed by Deputy Artistic Director Seema Sueko, The Heiress runs February 8 - March 10, 2019 in the Fichandler Stage.

Two short one-acts, "Wild Orchids" and "Rosary Hill" by Heather J. Violanti, will debut September 10 to 16 in a double bill presented by Theater for the New City's Dream Up Festival. "Wild Orchids" is a film noir-esque, feminist, and fictionalized take on 1940's Hollywood, where a secretary has a chance encounter with William Faulkner that may change both their lives. In "Rosary Hill,' two gentle nuns tend to their garden in upstate New York but a closer look at the harsh Mother Superior reveals they may not be all that they seem. Both plays feature canny, nuanced female characters who have much more going on under the surface than meets the eye. Jennifer Sandella directs.

Rehearsals are in full swing for The 5th Avenue Theatre's production of Kiss Me, Kate, which begins performances next Friday, April 6.

This holiday season, The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey will be presenting It's a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play. Adapted by Joe Landry and directed by Doug West, the show will be on the Madison Stage from November 30 to December 31. Liberty City Radio Theatre is pleased to announce its special holiday production of "Live from WVL Radio Theatre, It's a Wonderful Life." Willie Repoley's stage adaptation of the classic Frank Capra film is delivered as a 1940's radio broadcast, recreating the old time nostalgia of a time before Netflix and iPhones. 

Harry Enfield will play studio boss Herman Glogauer in Christopher Hart's adaptation of Kaufman and Hart's classic Hollywood comedy, Once in a Lifetime. Enfield is joined in the cast of Richard Jones' production by John Marquez as George and Claudie Blakley as May, with further casting still to be announced.

Artistic Director of The Print Room at the Coronet Anda Winters today announces the full cast for Tennessee Williams' rarely performed A LOVELY SUNDAY IN CREVE COEUR, which opens the theatre's new Autumn season. Michael Oakley directs Debbie Chazen as Bodey, Hermione Gulliford as Helena, Laura Rogers as Dorothea and Julia Watson as Miss Gluck. The production opens in the main theatre space on 15 September, with previews from 12 September and runs until 7 October.

It is with sadness that the Stratford Festival bids farewell to the man who was Canada's oldest working actor. William Needles died January 12, at the age of 97, surrounded by his family, at a hospice in Alliston, Ontario. Just days earlier, he had left his adopted hometown of Stratford, after suffering a massive heart attack on December 19.

Lilli Vanessi's life is moving up. She is engaged to the rich politician, Harrison Howell, and she is making her comeback to the stage in a production of Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew as its leading leading lady, Kate. Just as Lilli thought she would be able to move forward, she is confronted by her past as her ex-husband, Fred Graham, is starring as the leading man, Petruchio, in The Taming of the Shrew.

Commemorating the 75th anniversary of the Sheffield Blitz, and the 70th anniversary of the end of the Second World War, Operation Crucible, the debut play by Kieran Knowles, opens for a four week limited season at the Finborough Theatre from Tuesday 28 July - Saturday 22 August.
