Moving Image to Present THE COMPLETE HOWARD HAWKS Retrospective, 9/7-11/10

Howard Hawks, the quintessential Hollywood director known for his mastery of many genres, will be the subject of a complete retrospective at Museum of the Moving Image from September 7 through November 10, 2013. The Museum will present 39 features. All of the films will be shown in 35mm-many in stunning restorations-except for Red Line 7000, which will be shown in 16mm.

Hunter Foster to Direct THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW at Bucks County Playhouse, 10/23-11/2

Bucks County Playhouse (BCP) (Jed Bernstein, Producing Director) has announced Richard O'Brien's The Rocky Horror Show as the Playhouse's Fall production. Featuring direction by Tony Award nominee Hunter Foster and choreography by Lorin Latarro, The Rocky Horror Show will run from October 23rd through November 2nd. Special late night showings will take place on October 25, 26, 30, 31 and November 2, beginning at 11:30 p.m.

THE PIANIST OF WILLESDEN LANE, starring internationally-acclaimed storyteller and pianist, Mona Golabek, which was recently extended due to popular demand through September 1, will host a special talk back discussion on Sunday, August 18 following with 3 p.m. performance. The talk back will feature a special guest appearance by Kindertransport survivor Ernst Heimann, member of the Speakers' Bureau at the Illinois Holocaust Museum & Education Center. The production is adapted and directed by Hershey Felder and based on the book The Children of Willesden Lane by Golabek and Lee Cohen. The Chicago premiere has received rave reviews and follows successful productions in Los Angeles and Boston.

The City Theatre continues its summer season with the Tennessee Williams American classic, A Streetcar Named Desire, which revolutionized modern drama and is still an undisputed masterpiece from one of the great voices of the American theatre. Directed by Jeff Hinkle and starring Rachel McGinnis Meissner and Tim Brown, the production runs today, July 25 - August 18, 2013.

Fourteen-year-old Artemis Joukowsky had no idea the heroic role his family played during World War II until he began to interview his grandparents, Martha and Waitstill Sharp, for a homework assignment on moral courage. Flash forward a few decades, and the documentary based on their humble recounting of the story, Two Who Dared: The Sharps' War, a film that was ten years in the making, is now being released through a grassroots effort at churches, synagogues and theaters across the country and worldwide.

Way Off Broadway, Iowa's only professional musical theatre company and the residential company at the Stephen Sondheim Center for the Performing Arts is delighted to announce their Iowa premiere production, the newest version of Cabaret which won the Tony for Best Revival. Cabaret is a musical based on a book written by Christopher Isherwood, music by John Kander and lyrics by Fred Ebb. The 1966 Broadway production became a hit and spawned a 1972 film as well as numerous subsequent productions including a major 're-think' revival in 1998, which WOB will present.

Bucks County Playhouse (BCP) (Jed Bernstein, Producing Director) has announced that single tickets are now on sale for the 2013 Playhouse Productions summer season. The world premiere of a new play by four time Tony Award -winning playwright Terrence McNally has been added to the list of previously announced shows. It will star Tony and Emmy Award- winner Tyne Daly. The balance of the season is made up of acclaimed musicals and plays and a production specifically for families. The summer season kicks off on Thursday, May 23rd at the Bucks County Playhouse (70 South Main Street, New Hope, PA).
