Six creative actors will bring to life scenes from the hero's epic adventures in Austin Shakespeare's new production of Homer's The Odyssey at the Long Center's Rollins Theatre. Daytime performances, Oct. 9-11 at 10 a.m., are designed for audiences in grades 6 to 12 and evening performances, Oct. 11-12 at 7:30 p.m. for families.

Otherworld Theatre has announced it's full 2019-2020 main-stage season: Epics Reimagined. Countess Dracula, an original adaptation by resident playwright Nick Izzo and director Am'Ber D. Montgomery, opens September 28, 2019. Last year's family favorite, The Winter Wolf, will return for another run and bring 2019 to a warm and whimsical end under the direction of Sara Robinson. The Spring of 2020 brings The Legend of Merlin, an immersive spectacle and Otherworld Theatre original directed by Lauren Nicole Fields. Closing the season will be Chicago's very first production of PUFFS, the acclaimed off-Broadway comedy written by Matt Cox and directed by Otherworld Theatre Artistic Director Tiffany Keane Schaefer. All mainstage tickets are pay-what-you-can, allowing  people of any and all means to experience live performance. Tickets for Countess Dracula are already on sale and are available at www.OtherworldTheatre.org

Found Stages is disrupting the patriarchal interpretation of Frankenstein. Since as early as the 1840s, this classic story by a woman ahead of her time has been stripped of its complexity to showcase the scientist as the hero of progress, battling an ignorant monster. This October, Found Stages' Frankenstein's Funeral will correct this long-standing misrepresentation of Mary Shelley's 200-year-old novel.

Today, PBS KIDS announced a new animated series, HERO ELEMENTARY, set to premiere in the summer of 2020.  HERO ELEMENTARY is a school for budding superheroes, where kids learn to master their innate powers, like flying and teleportation, while exploring science along the way. HERO ELEMENTARY aims to give children ages 4 to 7 the tools to solve problems by thinking and acting like scientists and igniting their natural curiosity and empathy. This new multiplatform series, co-produced by Twin Cities PBS and Portfolio Entertainment, will debut nationwide on PBS stations, the PBS KIDS 24/7 channel, and PBS KIDS digital platforms.

Singer Robert Collins, winner of LA's Next Great Stage Star 2018 Presented by Princess Cruises, has a powerhouse voice, so to say that he knocked his debut LA cabaret show out of the park goes without saying. Playing to a soldout audience of family and friends, many from the contest, Collins displayed a down.to.earth, friendly charm that makes him perfect for cabaret. You have to connect with your audience, and Collins does so in spades. Backing him in the 70-minute show was marvelous pianist/musical director Michael Ragonese.
