Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra and Chorus to Perform in Basilica, 11/13

MILWAUKEE, WIS. 10/19/2015– The Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra and Chorus, under the direction of Francesco Lecce-Chong, present MSO at the Basilica on November 13 & 14, 2015 at 8:00 p.m. at the Basilica of St. Josaphat. This concert is a community concert and all tickets are priced at $5. The concerts will feature Bruckner's Te Deum in C major, along with Górecki's Symphony No. 3 “Symphony of Sorrowful Songs” and his choral work Totus Tuus.

Dan Zanes Coming to The Ware Center, 10/31

Grammy award winner Dan Zanes will present “Gusto Hour” on Saturday, October 31, 11 am, at the Ware Center located at 42 N. Prince Street, Lancaster.  From thrift shop basements to Carnegie hall, from Brooklyn to Bahrain and beyond, Zanes has been introducing new songs and reconnecting people to songs that have always been there. Referred to as “the family-music genre's most outspoken and eloquent advocate” by Time Magazine, his widely-acclaimed music has been featured on Sesame Street, Playhouse Disney, Nickelodeon, HBO Family, and Sprout.  He occupies a truly unique place in American music where sea shanties, English music hall, North American and West Indian folk music, party songs, the spirit of early rock-and-roll, and soulful originals collide.

STAGES St. Louis celebrates its 100th production with Smokey Joe's Cafe, from the legendary rock and roll songwriting team, Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller. The show will run through June 28 at the Robert G. Reim Theatre in Kirkwood. Due to an unprecedented advance in sales, STAGES has added a performance to the original schedule on Sunday, June 21st at 7:30 pm.

Schimmel Center at Pace University is proud to host the return engagement of Gelsey Kirkland Ballet'sproduction of the perennial holiday classic The Nutcracker. Due to the success of the production's debut last season at Schimmel Center, this year's production of The Nutcracker will be performed over the course of a special two-week engagement, running December 11–21. This 30-member company, under the artistic direction of Gelsey Kirkland and Michael Chernov, is comprised of nineteen dancers and eleven apprentices, and is based in Lower Manhattan.

HOUSTON, TEXAS - From November 28 - December 28, 2014, Houston Ballet celebrates the holidays with Ben Stevenson's breathtaking production of The Nutcracker, seen by over 1,000,000 people since its premiere 27 years ago. The beloved ballet tells the story of a little girl named Clara who is given a magical nutcracker doll on Christmas Eve. She encounters the frightful King Rat before embarking on a wondrous journey through the Land of Snow and the Kingdom of Sweets. Young and old alike will experience the many special effects, including the Christmas tree which "grows" to 40 feet, 200 pounds of "snow" falling during the snow scene, and the firing of cannon onstage. Houston Ballet will give 35 performances of The Nutcracker, to a live orchestra, in the Brown Theater at Wortham Theater Center in downtown Houston. From September 4-14, 2014, Houston Ballet launches its 45th season with the company premiere of John Neumeier's three-act ballet A Midsummer Night's Dream. The ballet is based on Shakespeare's lighthearted play of the same name and follows the hijinks and hilarity that ensues when a well-intentioned plan with a love potion goes awry. Created in 1977, A Midsummer Night's Dream has served as Mr. Neumeier's calling card, being seen as one of his most joyous and popular creations. Houston Ballet is the first American ballet company to perform the famous work and it is the first piece by Mr. Neumeier to enter the Houston Ballet repertoire.
