24th Street Theatre Extends LA RAZON BLINDADA Through 1/29

In his internationally acclaimed stage work, La Razón Blindada, Argentine-born playwright/director Aristides Vargas infuses Miguel de Cervantes' classic novel, El Quijote with Franz Kafka's, The Truth About Sancho Panza, and testimonies by Chicho Vargas and other political prisoners held in the 1970's at the Rawson Prison during Argentina's dictatorship. Two political prisoners, oppressed by physical and emotional abuse, find solace in meeting every Sunday at dusk to tell the story of Don Quixote and Sancho Panza. Their storytelling unravels amidst the extreme limitations imposed by their condition of inmates in a maximum security prison. The production features Jesus Castaños-Chima, Tony Duran and Arturo Diaz de Sandy.

FEINSTEIN'S AT LOEWS REGENCY, the nightclub proclaimed 'Best of New York' by New York Magazine, and 'an invaluable New York institution' by The New York Post, continues its Winter 2011 season with the debut of acclaimed French jazz vocalist, RAQUEL BITTON. Accompanied by an eight-piece band, Ms. Bitton's show 'A Little Bit of Paris' features the songs of Edith Piaf, Josephine Baker, Charles Trenet and others from France in the 1930's and 1940's. To coincide with her engagement at Feinstein's, Ms. Bitton's film 'Piaf... Her Story... Her Songs' will air on PBS / WNET 13 on February 13 at 12:30 PM. Both shows take place at the Loews Regency Hotel (540 Park Avenue at 61st Street).

Legendary cult filmmaker, author, actor and originator of the Hairspray dynasty John Waters brings his critically-acclaimed one-man show A John Waters Christmas to the Harris Theater for its Chicago premiere on Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at 7:30 pm. The 'Pope of Trash' will put the 'X' back in X'mas with a rapid-fire monologue that explores, explodes and exploits traditional holiday customs, with Waters sharing his compulsions, desires and stories, including his urge to give and receive inappropriate gifts, a religious fanaticism for Santa Claus, and an unhealthy love of true crime holiday horror stories. The performance says Waters, 'will hopefully make you feel better when the Christmas season is making you mental.' Jane Krakowski Performs at 40th Anniversary Lupus Fundraiser, 11/22

The S.I.E. Lupus Foundation has announced the addition of Jane Krakowski, Tony award-winner and two-time Emmy nominee (of '30 Rock'), to perform at the 40th Anniversary Life Without Lupus Gala. Beginning at 6 p.m., the Gala will take place at Lincoln Center's Avery Fisher Hall on Monday, November 22, and will feature a cocktail reception, seated dinner and a live and silent auction. The evening will honor the founders -- the Golick family -- and Human Genome Sciences/ GlaxoSmithKline. The foundation has been serving the Lupus community since 1970, providing support for families coping with and suffering from this autoimmune disease; particularly those in and around the disadvantaged neighborhoods of New York City and Los Angeles. All proceeds from the Gala event will help in the Foundation's mission to promote and increase awareness, research and ongoing care.

As BroadwayWorld has reported, The New York Philharmonic's SONDHEIM: The Birthday Concert, which took place on March 15-16, 2010 at Avery Fisher Hall, will be broadcast on THIRTEEN'S Great Performances on PBS on Wednesday, November 24 (check local listings). WNET, Channel 13 in New York City, will air the concert at 9:30 p.m. that evening. Today, it has been revealed that the Image Entertainment will release the program DVD and Blu-Ray on November 16, 2010. The concert includes songs and orchestral pieces from Sondheim musical theater favorites such as Company, Follies, A Little Night Music, Sweeney Todd, Merrily We Roll Along, Into the Woods, and Sunday in the Park with George. Today, it has been announced that in addition to the PBS telecast, the concert will be released on DVD in November by Image Entertainment.

Jacob's Pillow announces its 2010 full season calendar, including more than 200 free performances, talks, photography exhibits, tours, and events. Free event highlights include the Blake's Barn exhibit Lois Greenfield: Imagined Moments, featuring Greenfield's signature dance photography, and 'Let's Dance!' a new community event on July 4 with free dance classes and workshops for teens and adults.
