Performed with only three actors, the adaptation of Crime and Punishment by Marilyn Campbell and Cut Columbus is being helmed by the acclaimed director of the 2005 Play House production of I Am My Own Wife, Anders Cato. Crime and Punishment begins in the Drury Theatre at The Cleveland Play House on Friday, February 27 and runs through Sunday, March 22, 2009. The Pittsburgh International Children's Festival, a division of The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust, will present the 23rd annual festival May 13-17, 2009, in various venues throughout the city's university district of Oakland. The Festival is currently one of only four international theater festivals for children in the United States.
Featured Children's Festival performance sites include Charity Randall Theatre, Studio Theatre, Bellefield Hall Auditorium, Synod Hall and Carnegie Lecture Hall. The Festival grounds, free to the public, will complement the featured performances with hands-on cultural and educational activities, roving artists, booths, and exhibitors. Following last year's triumph with Tanya Barfield's Blue Door, Lindo takes on August Wilson's African-American epic, Joe Turner's Come and Gone. Staged in the state-of-the-art Roda Theatre, this show begins previews on October 31, opens November 5, and closes December 14.
