BWW Review: Jennifer Damiano Masterfully Showcases A Career Beyond Her Years In One-Woman Show 'Jennuinely' at Feinstein's/54 Below
by Casey Mink - Aug 5, 2016

In traversing her career through the songs and stories that have brought her to this point, it is clear that Jennifer Damiano's journey belies her age. Yet, through her one-woman show Jennuinely at Feinstein's/54 Below on July 29, the second of what was originally a three-performance engagement (two more encore performances have been added to her schedule), the Tony-nominated Damiano gave the impression of a young woman who has seen it all in her decade-long career. That's not to say she isn't happily embracing the unexpected twists and turns in what's still to come. This is, after all, someone who starred in the perilously ill-fated 'Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark' and lived to tell the tale.

BWW Review: Rosemary Loar Justifies 'Greatest Hits' Status for Her 2006 QUANDO SWING With Powerful Revival At The Metropolitan Room
by Alix Cohen - Apr 15, 2016

I didn't catch Rosemary Loar's original 2006 presentation of 'Quando Swing,' but I can't imagine it performed with more muscular honesty than it was Wednesday night at the Metropolitan Room in the latest monthly installment of Producer Stephen Hanks' 'New York Cabaret's Greatest Hits' series. We've come to expect lucid, intriguing shows from the vocalist, but engagement level on this occasion felt almost cathartic. Energy was full tilt, lyric communication authentic.

BWW Review: Jubilant SISTER ACT Will Raise You Up at MTW
by Don Grigware - Apr 11, 2016

Sister Act the Musical started out in 2006 at the Pasadena Playhouse, premiered in London's West End in 2009 and then underwent serious revisions before coming to Broadway in 2011. I remember liking the first mounting in 2006 with many reservations. Since I loved the 1992 film so much, I didn't feel that the stage version was particularly faithful...no pun intended. Well, with all the 2011 changes, MTW's revival of the Broadway version is tops, a joyful, tuneful, splashy romp that never lets down, with a tremendous cast, stellar direction from Michael Matthews and soulful choreography from Daniel Smith. Douglas Carter Beane, who penned the screenplay To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar and the Tony nominated play The Little Dog Laughed, added new book material for the national tour, included here, and this contributes substantially to molding a sleek and unforgettable show.
