Tony Award-winning costume designer, JESS GOLDSTEIN (currently represented on Broadway with Jersey Boys and On the Town), and scenic designer DOUGLAS W. SCHMIDT are among the 2015 TDF/Irene Sharaff Awards recipients. The awards will be presented at a ceremony on Friday, May 1, at 6:30pm, at the Hudson Theatre (145 West 44th Street). Mr. Goldstein was selected to receive the 2015 TDF/Irene Sharaff Lifetime Achievement Award for costume design and Mr. Schmidt will receive the Robert L.B. Tobin Award for Sustained Excellence in Theatrical Design.

Dixon Place's new production, THE ABSOLUTE BRIGHTNESS OF LEONARD PELKEY, will begin previews Saturday, February 7th, and open on Sunday, February 22nd at 6:00 PM. Based on his best-selling novel, the show features critically acclaimed, Emmy nominated and award-winning storyteller James Lecesne, who portrays the life and characters of a Jersey Shore town where a young boy goes missing. The play is directed by Tony Speciale, with visuals by Matthew Sandager and incidental music by Duncan Sheik, some of which will be released in his new record "Legerdemain" in April 2015. THE ABSOLUTE BRIGHTNESS OF LEONARD PELKEY will run through March 28th at Dixon Place (161 Chrystie Street). American Theater Group, New Jersey's newest professional theater company in residence at Hamilton Stage at Union County Performing Arts Center (360 Hamilton Street, Rahway), will present Jonathan Larson's rock musical tick, tick... BOOM!. The production will run January 28 through February 8 (Opening Night: Saturday, January 31 at 8PM). Directed by Igor Goldin, with music direction by Vince Di Mura, the cast will feature Nicholas Park, Shannon O'Boyle, and Michael Luwoye. Before he wrote the Broadway blockbuster RENT, Jonathan Larson had another story to tell...his own.

Schimmel Center at Pace University is proud to host the return engagement of Gelsey Kirkland Ballet'sproduction of the perennial holiday classic The Nutcracker. Due to the success of the production's debut last season at Schimmel Center, this year's production of The Nutcracker will be performed over the course of a special two-week engagement, running December 11–21. This 30-member company, under the artistic direction of Gelsey Kirkland and Michael Chernov, is comprised of nineteen dancers and eleven apprentices, and is based in Lower Manhattan.

Award-Winning New Jersey poet Michael T. Young will read Saturday evening, November 15, at Panoply Books in Lambertville, New Jersey, from his brand-new book "The Beautiful Moment of Being Lost,"his second full-length poetry collection, soon to be released by Hoboken-based publisher Poets Wear Prada. Michael T. Young has published three other books, including his prize-winning chapbook "Living in the Counterpoint" (Finishing Line Press, 2012), an earlier chapbook 'Because the Wind Has Questions' (Somers Rocks Press, 1997), and a full-length collection of poems 'Transcriptions of Daylight' (Rattapallax Press, 2000). Last month, Young was named co-winner of the 2014 Jean Pedrick Chapbook Award for "Living in the Counterpoint" by the New England Poetry Club. Young has received both Chaffin and William Stafford awards for his poetry, two Pushcart nominations, and a fellowship from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts. Since "The Beautiful Moment of Being Lost" had its unofficial launch earlier this year in May at the West Caldwell Poetry Festival, the poet as been on tour throughout his home state of New Jersey, and in New York, to promote his new book. Mr. Young, a philosopher as well as poet, who works as as administrative assistant in the corporate world, writes about self-exploration and identify in the context of his real-life observations during his daily activities. New Jersey readers will recognize many references in his poems to places traveled during his daily commute such as Pulaski Skyway and the Hudson River waterfront. Bertha Rogers, author of "Heart Turned Back" lauds "The Beautiful Moment of Being Lost" and says in his new book, "Michael T. Young leads his readers into loving the world in its beautiful day-to-dayness. He does this by showing the reader, in thoughtful and graceful language, how to look and listen." Asked about the unusual title of his book, Mr. Young replied that it is simply the title of one of the poems included in the book. The book itself is dedicated to his wife, Chandra, "with whom every moment is a beautiful moment even when we are lost." Michael T. Young was born in Reading, Pennsylvania. He moved to New York City in 1990. Young lives with his wife and children in Jersey City, New Jersey.
