As BroadwayWorld reported earlier this week, David Mamet's 1984 play Glengarry Glen Ross is heading back to Broadway, this time starring Al Pacino as leading man, 'Shelly "The Machine" Levene.' Pacino previously played 'Richard Roma' the the 1992 film adaptation of the Pulitzer Prize-winning play. Daniel Sullivan is attached to direct the project.
The New York Times has confirmed that the show will begin previews on October 16 at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theater. Opening night is set for November 11.

Two-time Tony Award nominated costume designer Carrie Robbins, and scenic, lighting, costume designer and educator Lloyd Burlingame are among the 2012 TDF/Irene Sharaff Awards recipients. The Broadway at Birdland concert series has just announced that Emmy/Grammy/Oscar/Tony-winning orchestrator JONATHAN TUNICK is returning to Birdland with his Broadway Moonlighters on Monday, March 19 at 7pm. This is a rare public performance by Broadway's premier orchestrator, who will be leading a big band of Broadway's finest musicians in his own arrangements. Tunick's last appearance with the Broadway Moonlighters (with surprise guest vocalist Barbara Cook) was Standing Room Only, and of course, another Surprise Guest performer will appear this year!
Chichester Festival Theatre celebrates its 50th birthday with an anniversary season that echoes and acknowledges the past while also looking to the future. Uncle Vanya was part of Chichester's very first season in 1962 and became a key part of its history and is revisited during Festival 2012. The Way of the World in 1984 has also become an emblematic production; the play will feature again this year.
