David Geffen Hall
10 Lincoln Center Plaza New York, NY 10023

The TONY Award-winning score from Parade will be brought to life for one night only at Avery Fisher Hall, Lincoln Center on February 16, 2015.

Recent TONY-winner, and original composer, Jason Robert Brown will be at the helm to direct a star-studded cast and full chorus as Music Director, joined by Olivier Award-nominee Gary Griffin as Director.

Following the phenomenal success of Ragtime in 2013, and Titanic in 2014, Manhattan Concert Productions will now revive the Drama Desk and TONY Award-winning score of PARADE and bring it back to Lincoln Center where it all began in 1998. This concert performance of Parade will feature over 200 auditioned singers from the across the US, a full professional Broadway cast, and the enlarged forces of the New York City Chamber Orchestra.

With a skillful score by Jason Robert Brown and a book by the Pulitzer Prizewinning playwright Alfred Uhry, Parade tells a controversial story of the 1913 trial of Jewish factory manager Leo Frank, who was accused and convicted of raping and murdering a thirteen-year-old employee, Mary Phagan in Atlanta, Georgia. This was Brown's very first Broadway production, and his score "draws on a variety of influences, from pop-rock to folk to rhythm and blues and gospel", Variety.

Songs For A New World with music and lyrics by three time Tony Award winner Jason Robert Brown is a stirring musical journey examining the moments of decision and difficult choices faced in everyday life. Known for such Broadway hits as Parade, The Bridges of Madison County, Honeymoon in Vegas, and The Last Five Years, Mr. Brown artfully blends pop, jazz and gospel in solos and ensemble styles to create this inspiring song cycle.  Directed by Gloucester Stage Artistic Director Robert Walsh, the production features five singers including Tony Award nominee Barbara Walsh, Broadway veterans Rockport's Wendy Waring and Jack Donahue, Berklee College of Music graduate Chris Pittman and  Brandeis' Nyah Macklin, all four in their Gloucester Stage debut. According to Director and GSC Artistic Director Walsh, "Songs For A New World is an enthralling evening of storytelling through song and movement reminiscent of Jacques Brel Is Alive and Well and Living in Paris. We are so fortunate to have such a talented group of actor-singers to bring this work to our audience. It's a particular treat to work with my cousin Barbara again after so many years!  Wendy, Jack, Chris and Nyah are also incredibly fun, hugely talented and all working together in such a fun way - it's a thrill!'

David Young Promotes Suspenseful Mystery Novel ABRAHAM ORACLE
by Christina Mancuso - Aug 4, 2016

Small town America is disappearing at an alarming rate, and at the top of the list is Abraham, Indiana which was destined to be a leading economic force in the state. In recent years a series of misfortunes have mired it deeply in a depression from which it may never recover. On top of this, a Chicago mob boss has decided to make Abraham his second home and is buying the town one piece at a time. With every purchase, he replaces local workers with his own from Chicago. The resulting unemployment and economic depravity have created an explosive mix, which the city's leading citizens naively ignore. Into town comes Robert Barnaby as a savior with a ready-made solution for Abraham's economic woes - establish a baseball team that is owned by the citizens and will draw fans from far and wide, filling the hotel, restaurants and other businesses. The program is warmly embraced by all except a few hard-line critics, most notably the skeptical newspaper owner. It is so warmly embraced that the mob boss, the mayor, and a local charitable group all want total control of the team. To Robert's great satisfaction, money is heaped into his hands as factions compete for ownership of the team. Slowly doubt's creep in as to Robert's intentions. Does he really have the best interests of Abraham in his plans? But as Robert wins the hearts of the citizens of this farmland community, so do they slowly win him over. And as they do, he realizes he has caused more harm than good. Now he must reverse the path he has set and to do this he must convert his most ardent critics and at the same time set his own life on a dangerous path. To add another hurdle, FBI agents appear, asking troubling questions about his past. Others also have their sights set on Abraham's future. All these come to a climax during a parade honoring the future baseball team and the city's newly appointed oracle. Abraham Oracle is available in both print and ebook formats.
