Actress Jennifer Ellison is in 'talks and talks' to take on the role of Elle Woods in the West End production of LEGALLY BLONDE, The Daily Mail's Baz Bamigboye reports. Ellison would replace Sheridan Smith, who is currently playing the role and is to leave in September or October.

The visual arts as a form of adolescent expression will be on display April 20-25, 2010 at the the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center in Appleton, WI. As part of a program that promotes self-esteem in young women, the organization, Project Girl, is using LEGALLY BLONDE THE MUSICAL as a vehicle for self-discovery. Together, Project Girl and The Fox Cities Performing Arts Center are recognizing LEGALLY BLONDE'S leading lady, Elle Woods, as a potential case study for girls. The two organization have formed a collaborative effort to raise awareness about the negative effects of media messaging on the self-esteem and body image of young women. Materials for the program were used from Project Girl, and were facilitated by women leaders from the Fox Cities. The participants include 20 adolescent girls who range in age from 10-15, along with their mentors from Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Fox Valley Region.

Last night, Wednesday 13 January 2010, Legally Blonde The Musical opened at the Savoy Theatre in London. Sheridan Smith, Duncan James, Jill Halfpenny, Peter Davison, Aoife Mulholland, Susan McFadden and Alex Gaumond lead the cast in Legally Blonde The Musical which is currently booking until 23 May 2010. Directed and choreographed by Tony Award-winning Jerry Mitchell, Legally Blonde The Musical has music and lyrics by Laurence O'Keefe and Nell Benjamin, book by Heather Hach, set design by David Rockwell, costume design by Gregg Barnes, lighting design by Kenneth Posner and Paul Miller, sound design by Acme Sound Partners and orchestrations by Christopher Jahnke.

In a special feature with the U.K.'s Daily Telegraph, powerhouse producer Sonia Friedman, the force behind the West End's Legally Blonde, talks the record-breaking production, feminism and her upcoming ventures. Included on this impressive list is a January West End transfer of Jez Butterworth's Jerusalem, one of the season's most successful productions that played the Royal Court, and developing a musical adaptation of the blockbuster Shakespeare in Love. And this after just opening A Little Night Music with Catherine Zeta-Jones and Angela Lansbury on Broadway and preparing to open the Liev Schreiber/Scarlett Jonhansson-led A View from the Bridge on Broadway in January. In fact, Friedman has no fewer than 56 projects on her 'to-do list.'
