Opening Night is tonight, October 6.

After exploring the Greeks last year, Ombelico Mask Ensemble is scrambling up the 2016 Philadelphia Fringe Festival with their madcap exploration of Shakespeare, Omeletto, Like Hamlet Only Scrambled. Carrying the torch of the late, legendary songwriter, Ron Miller, is his own multi-talented grandson, Oliver Richman (www.oliverrichman.com) who is releasing a special 50th Anniversary EP, 'For Once In My Life' honoring the legacy of his grandfather who passed away in 2007. Theatre for a New Audience announces that as part of its 2016-2017 season at Polonsky Shakespeare Center, Golden Globe Award winner Oscar Isaac will play the title role in Hamlet staged by Sam Gold.  Oscar Isaac and Sam Gold last worked together on Zoe Kazan's We Live Here in 2011.Hamlet is their first collaboration on Shakespeare and their first production with Theatre for a New Audience. Hamlet will begin previews on June 4, 2017 for an opening June 22 and run through July 30.

A four-hour play with more than two dozen characters tackled by two actors in 50 minutes. That's the setup for Jeff Christian's adaptation of Shakespeare's great revenge tragedy, HAMLET, in which Christopher Prentice and Gail Rastorfer will play 'two mighty opposites.'

To share an outstanding production of the 2013 Hamlet Marathon in Milan, Italy with a wider audience, First Maria LLC will present Shakespeare's 'Hamlet,' directed by Celeste Moratti and performed by a mixed American-Italian company, March 4 to 20, 2016 at Teatro Circulo, 64 East 4th Street, Manhattan. The production trims politics out of the plot in order to emphasize each character's role as either a child or a parent, highlighting mistakes of mothers and fathers and the conflicts in children between filial duty and the emergence of conscience. The performance is entirely in English.

Happy Birthday, Ralph Fiennes! Fiennes' 2006 performance in the play Faith Healer gained him a nomination for a 2007 Tony Award. In 2008, Fiennes worked with frequent collaborator director Jonathan Kent to play the title role in Sophocles's Oedipus the King at The National Theatre in London. He has appeared in films such as The English Patient, In Bruges, The Constant Gardener, Strange Days and Maid in Manhattan. He is also well known for his portrayals of three infamous villains: Nazi war criminal Amon Goth in Schindler's List, serial killer Francis Dolarhyde in the 2002 film Red Dragon, and Lord Voldemort in the Harry Potter film series. Most recently, he appeared in The Reader (2008), The Hurt Locker (2009) and as Hades in Clash of the Titans (2010).

The Jungle closes its 25th Anniversary Season with the regional premiere of the latest work by Conor McPherson, lauded by The New York Times as "the finest playwright of his generation." Joel Sass will direct THE NIGHT ALIVE, his third turn with a McPherson play at the Jungle after critical and audience acclaim with Shining City (2007) and The Seafarer (2009). The Night Alive opens November 6 and will be on stage through December 20 at the Lyn-Lake neighborhood theater, 2951 Lyndale Ave. So. in Minneapolis.

There's the definite feeling of autumn in the air that makes you want to gut a pumpkin or at least have a pumpkin spice latte, chances are you are definitely going to need a sweater in the early morning hours, and it's past the perfect time for you to pick out a Halloween costume. Luckily, theater companies are well into their new seasons and there's plenty of shows to entertain you while you take time off from berating yourself for wearing that same tricked-out Star Wars costume you wore the past fwo-and-one-half years.

'[Thank you] to an incredible cast of British and American actors who make the Atlantic look like a little creek you can just kind of pop across,' said Dame Helen Mirren upon receiving her 2015 Tony Award. The stage and screen star reprised her critically-acclaimed performance in THE AUDIENCE after a West End run in 2013, and she was just one of many to 'pop across' an ocean for a stab at Broadway.  An unprecedented amount of British talent took over Broadway last year, bringing us such productions as THE CURIOUS INCIDENT OF THE DOG IN THE NIGHT-TIME, WOLF HALL: PARTS 1 & 2, and SKYLIGHT.   It doesn't seem like the trend is ending anytime soon. This fall, Broadway will welcome a slew of British actors- some of whom will be making their US stage debuts in incoming productions. And it's not just performers.
