The Old Globe's 2012-13 Season will feature the World Premieres of two new musicals: Allegiance - A New American Musical by Jay Kuo and Lorenzo Thione and A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder by Robert L. Freedman and Steven Lutvak. The season also includes George Bernard Shaw's Pygmalion in celebration of the classic play's 100th anniversary and the World Premiere of a new adaptation of Henrik Ibsen's A Doll's House by Anne-Charlotte Hanes Harvey and Kirsten Brandt. Two recent Broadway hits will make their San Diego debuts at the Globe: David Lindsay-Abaire's Good People and Jon Robin Baitz's Other Desert Cities. Rounding out the season are the West Coast Premiere of Bekah Brunstetter's Be a Good Little Widow and the Southern California Premiere of Tarell Alvin McCraney's The Brothers Size.
According to Deadline.com, Broadway veteran Lee Pace will join previously reported Daniel Day-Lewis, Sally Field, and David Strathairn in 'Team of Rivals,' based on Doris Kearns Goodwin's biography of the president. Steven Spielberg will direct the film titled, 'Lincoln,' featuring a screenplay by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Tony Kushner.
According to Peter Jackson's Facebook page, roadway veteran Lee Pace will join previously announced Cate Blanchett, and Ian McKellan in the Upcoming big screen adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien's THE HOBBIT. Pace will play Thranduil. Filming is set to begin in February in New Zealand, as confirmed by MGM, Warner Brothers, and New Line, and Lord of the Rings director and Oscar-winner Peter Jackson will direct the two-part film.
According to Variety, Stars of the stage and screen Alec Baldwin, Hugh Jackman, Jude Law, and Chris Pine are set to voice animated characeters in the upcoming 3D movie: Rise of the Guardians, The film is expected to be released in November 2012. David Lindsay-Abaire will write te screenplay for the movie, while Peter Ramsey and William Joyce are set to direct.

The cast features award winning Boston area actors Vincent E. Siders and Ramona Alexander, as well as puppeteer Penny Benson. Press Night is set for Saturday, February 14 at 3 PM.

Following a successful try-out engagement in Seattle, SHREK THE MUSICAL will begin preview performances in New York at the Broadway Theatre on Saturday, November 8, with the official opening on Sunday, December 14.
