An Actors’ Equity Association Members' Project Code Presentation
A SEATTLE PREMIERE
UNCLE VANYA
By Anton Chekhov
Adapted by Annie Baker
The 16th production from the actors of Theatre9/12 will be Annie Baker’s contemporary adaptation of Chekov’s Uncle Vanya.
“Strikingly intimate….Ms. Baker has given the play a natural but distinctly contemporary American sound”— New York Times
“A fresh rethinking of the material from the perspective of a
modern mind.” — Variety
“Devastatingly beautiful.” — Village Voice
A stable but slowly decaying family’s safe routine is turned upside down by the return of the revered patriarch and his strikingly alluring wife. Desire, disillusionment, and perceived destiny inflame and challenge their crucial tools for survival, alternating between ironic humor and touching tragedy.
Featuring the Equity, EMC, and other talented actors of Theatre9/12, Uncle Vanya will be our final production at Trinity Parish Hall until the newly rebuilt space welcomes us back.

ABOUT THEATRE9/12
After the shock the world experienced on 9/11/01, every creative artist was summoned to fulfill their traditional responsibility:
To heal and lift humanity to understand this new time
To make order of perceived chaos
To reassess complacent values
To heal the past in order to embrace a progressive step forward.
At Theatre9/12, trained and working actors, both union and non-union, continue to develop their talents and skills through workshops and performances. Their efforts climax with productions presented through the Actors’ Equity Association Members’ Project Code. Theatre9/12 staff assists these union actors in making these projects come to life.
