The Seattle International Dance Festival (SIDF) is three weeks of dance-filled activities and lures dance artists from as far away as Benin/West Africa, Italy, Germany, Ireland and India. The free Art on the Fly outdoor event and the James Ray Residency Project offers local dance artists the opportunity to share their work in new environments to new audiences. The Spotlight series shines the light on Seattle's contemporary ballet and the city's newest dance works for 3 unique performances.

The festival kicks off on June 7th with an opening night party and Shuffle for the dance-loving general public. Shuffle presents performances by randomly matched dance and musical artists, who fuse together two art forms in just one week. Twelve nights of spectacular dance, from around the globe, will follow.

By Saturday June 8th the festival hits full speed with the free, outdoor family-friendly Art on the Fly and the first weekend of the Inter|National Series performances from Italian, NY-based, and local dance companies. In week two, a host of International Artists perform and five emerging and established Seattle-based artists present the culmination of their year-long artistic residencies through the James Ray Residency Project. Always popular with audiences, the Spotlight on Contemporary Ballet and Spotlight on Seattle Now feature a mix of short and long pieces arranged by local curators: Donald Byrd, Julie Tobiason, Eva Stone, Betsey Brock, Cyrus Khambatta, Constanze Villines and Victoria Watts.

Tickets to paid performances are $25 in advance, $30 at the door (25 and under are $18 in advance, $22 at the door). A 2-Show pass is $40, the All Festival Pass is $85 and the Premium Pass is $135 (includes reserved seating, complimentary beverages and entrance to the opening night party.)
