First heard at FringeACT as a staged reading, Miss America; A Fugue Born in 1969 will recieve its world premiere at Theatre Schmeater starting April 14th.

Set amidst a WTO-style action in Seattle, Miss America follows the connections and disconnections of our generation. Charlie and his friendsand neighbors cling to each other and to their beliefs, but it is a world of much change and startling pictures of the reality they all inhabit. This new play incorporates laughter and fear in a musical mix: in the fugue of its title.

Director Rob West is the Artistic Director of Theater Schmeater, where he has directed Monster, Mag Mor, Soccer Moms, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, and the first two plays in Denis Johnson's trilogy: Hellhound on My Trail, and Shoppers Carried by Escalators into the Flames.

Josh Beerman is an up-and-coming local playwright; his A Eulogy for Citizen was the winner of Theater Schmeater's first-ever Northwest Playwright Competition back in 2003, and he recently directed Theater Schmeater's hit production of Joseph Heller's Catch 22.

Featuring: Patrick Allcorn, Paul Bergman, Philip Clarke, Chad Evans, Erica Evans, Lindsay Evans, Rob Jones, Erin Knight, Matt Lyman, Jason Marr, Jane May, Jennessa Richert, Ray Tagavilla and Brandon Whitehead.

Miss America: A Fugue Born in 1969 opens April 14th and runs through May 20th. For tickets call (206)325-6500, or visit www.schmeater.org for more info.
