The Fern Shakespeare Company to Present Shakespeare's THE TWO GENTLEMEN OF VERONA

Love, and a bit with a dog. Is all really fair in love and war? Shakespeare tackles this age old question in his first comedy The Two Gentlemen of Verona.

Proteus only has eyes for his hometown sweetheart, Julia. But on a trip to Milan, he gets one look at the lovely Silvia . . . and dumps Julia in a heartbeat. One problem: Sylvia is in love. . . with Proteus's best friend Valentine! Stir in some bandits, an outraged father and a sour-natured dog, and it's friend versus friend in a ridiculously comedic tale of romantic rivals.

Although it is Shakespeare's first comedy, it is a perfect example of how human nature simply does not change. In our current era where toxic masculinity has become acceptable behavior, we as a society must learn from our past and question the status quo.

What does it take to accept the love that has been in front of you all along? Can we learn from our mistakes and move forward? Fern Shakespeare takes this opportunity to ask these very difficult questions and explore the deeper levels of this deceptively simple comedy.

Tickets are available at FernShakespeare.com/tickets. Performances are Thursday-Saturday at 7:00PM and Sundays at 2:00PM with a special Industry Night Monday, December 11 at 7PM at The Slate Theatre, 815 Seattle Blvd S, Inside the Inscape Arts building (The Old Immigration Building).
