Cornish to Present 2nd Annual OUR CREATIVE SOCIETY, 1/31-2/1

January 31 and February 1, 2014, Cornish College of the Arts presents the second annual Our Creative Society, a two-day convening that celebrates and illuminates the role that the arts play in the health and well-being of individuals and communities.

Tickets $25 general public, $20 for Cornish alumni and students. Ages 21+.

An opening night party filled with alumni talent, headlined by hip-hop artist Katie Kate, and featuring performances by dancer Amy O'Neal, and new arts collective The Pendleton House. Also includes DJ, cateRed Food truck and complimentary cocktails.

Day of Ideas
Saturday, February 1, 9:30 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Cornish Playhouse at Seattle Center, 201 Mercer Street

Free and open to the public, no reservation needed.

A day of performances, experiences, workshops and conversations that draw connections between art and wellbeing, featuring a workshop with David Leventhal, Program Director for the nationally acclaimed Dance for PD, a collaboration between Mark Morris Dance Group and Brooklyn Parkinson Group. The day will explore the palliative nature of creativity and artistry across all spectrums of wellbeing from personal to social health.

The theme this year is The Arts + Wellbeing. Illuminating Ways to Thrive. The goal of this theme is to explore the ways in which creativity and artistic practice can bring new approaches to human health and wellbeing, from the personal to the public. During the Day of Ideas, we will expand this theme within the framework of key focal points including physical and societal health as well as participatory workshops to experience well being.
