CINDERELLA, QUILTERS and THE ADDAMS FAMILY Set for Spring 2015 at Studio East

Studio East and StoryBook Theater have three shows sure to delight a variety of theater goers this spring.

The youngest audiences, and their parents, will enjoy a touring production of StoryBook Theater's 55-minute fun and colorful musical Cinderella. Most 5th graders and older will appreciate Studio East's thought-provoking shows, Quilters & Mother Hicks, and for elementary and middle schoolers, Studio East presents the classically kooky The Addams Family.

A love of theater can never be started too early or nurtured enough!


In Cinderella, Cinderella dreams of going to the ball to see the castle and meet the prince, but her jealous stepmother makes her daydream a living nightmare. With the help of her zany Fairy Godmother, and in true StoryBook style, Cindy and her plump pumpkin race to make her wish come true! This show include offerings at two new StoryBook Theater venues -- Shoreline and Seattle-Fremont. Tickets to Cinderella are $11 for all patrons over 1 year of age and can be purchased at www.storybooktheater.org.

Quilters blends a series of interrelated scenes into a rich mosaic which captures the sweep and beauty, the terror and joy, the harsh challenge and abiding rewards of frontier life. Mother Hicks is an evocative story, richly realized through all of the resources of theatre including poetry, character and story. The setting includes various locations in the Midwest in the late spring of 1935 during the Great Depression. These shows perform in rotation. Both shows are recommended for ages 11+ and have running times of approximately 2 hours. Adult tickets are $15, while students and seniors are $13. All Gala tickets are $18. All performances are at the Studio East Mainstage Theater located at 11730 118th Ave NE in Kirkland. Performances run Jan. 30 - Feb 15, with the following show times:

Quilters: Jan 30 @ 6:30pm (Gala); Jan 31, Feb 8 & Feb 14 @ 2:30pm; Feb 7 & Feb 13 @ 7:30pm

Mother Hicks: Jan 31 @ 6:30pm (Gala); Feb 6 & 14 @ 7:30pm; Feb 7 & 15 @ 2:30pm

The Addams Family features an original story, and it's every father's nightmare. Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess of darkness, has grown up and fallen in love with a sweet, smart young man from a respectable family. A man her parents have never met. And if that weren't upsetting enough, she confides in her father and begs him not to tell her mother. Now, Gomez Addams must do something he's never done before -- keep a secret from his beloved wife, Morticia. The show is recommended for ages 9+ and has a running time of approximately 2.5 hours. Adult tickets are $15, while students and seniors are $13. All Gala tickets are $18. All performances are at the Studio East Mainstage Theater located at 11730 118th Ave NE in Kirkland. Performances run Mar. 15 - 24, with the following show times:

Mar 13 & 14 @ 6:30 (Gala)

About Studio East and StoryBook Theater - Studio East Training for the Performing Arts was founded in 1992 to provide theater arts education for young people on the Eastside. It was founded on the belief that through the performing arts children can build confidence, and acquire leadership and teamwork skills while learning discipline, dedication and responsibility. Starting with one theater program for teens in 1992, Studio East has become one of the largest children's theater training programs in the Seattle area. Today, Studio East serves over 70,000 people annually with a comprehensive program of drama classes, theater arts camps, Mainstage productions and live performances for children from ages 3 through 19.

Studio East also produces StoryBook Theater, an adult professional touring troupe that introduces young children to live theater at venues throughout the Puget Sound area. Studio East creates opportunities for young people to discover and explore the performing arts.

Studio East recently received Kirkland's CACHET Award, presented by Kirkland Mayor Joan McBride and the Kirkland Cultural Arts Commission. Studio East, received the award for its dedication to arts education in Kirkland's community. CACHET stands for Collaboration of Arts, Culture, Heritage, Education and Theatre.
