RADA trained multi-award winning actor, Sam Redway, will be performing in Laura Bowler's new work Antarctica. Co- commissioned by Manchester Camerata and BBC Radio 3, Antarctica premieres on 30 January 2019 at HOME, Manchester.

Laura visited Antarctica in January of this year to record ambient sounds and footage which will be used to create a wholly immersive experience to bring back the soundscapes of the Antarctic, including temperature, smell and light. Manchester Camerata UpClose: Antarctica is a visceral, human orchestral work exploring contemporary society's destructive relationship with the planet and the need for us to acknowledge climate change. The orchestral writing will take the audience through the serene beauty and the harsh brutality of one of the planet's most extreme regions and one that is urgently at risk.

Sam Redway is a supported artist at Royal Exchange Theatre and is currently developing 'War With The Newts' with Knaive Theatre. His wealth of experience in theatre includes; From TIE to Immersive Theatre, Physical Ensemble work to One Man Shows, Shakespeare, Mask and Naturalism. 'Bin Laden: The One Man Show' has seen over 120 performances from Hollywood to Denmark and is currently on tour in the UK and booking an Australasian tour for Spring 2019.

Manchester Camerata UpClose: Antarctica
Thursday 30 January, 8.00pm, HOME

Antarctica is an immersive work of orchestral music theatre. Composer Laura Bowler travelled to the Antarctic in January 2018 so you didn't have to. Authentic audio-visual material captured from the trip will recreate the world of the southern oceans here in Manchester. You will feel as though you are one of the deckhands onboard the ship as you sail down the Lemaire Channel via 360 sound, actors and stunning visuals. This is going to be a truly chilling experience - dress warmly. This show has no interval and will last 1 hour.
