Tell us a bit about Our Carnal Hearts
Our Carnal Hearts is a performance that is a cross between theatre, comedy and singing session and constantly takes you from laughter to dead seriousness. It's a show about envy, competition and the way we screw eachother over. It puts success and achievement under the microscope. It is performed by me with a four-strong female chorus, who sing a brilliant, beautiful and raucous score composed by Louise Mothersole. We perform it in the round - it's intimate, funny, and political, and asks questions of the current social climate.

Why bring it to Edinburgh?
Edinburgh is chock full of intelligent performance lovers who take risks, don't like to be patronised, and want to be entertained and challenged. That's a cracking audience for this show. I love Edinburgh for all the people who you end of chatting to in bars and queues, the stories you hear. It's a magical (and knackering) place.
We're part of the British Council showcase too, so that's a lovely thing.
What sets it apart from other shows at the Fringe?
I'm not sure there's another show at the Fringe interrogating envy and competition which is funny, political, has a live surround-sound belting choral score, a fierce all female team and rubber chickens. But this is the Fringe, so there might be six of them.
Do you think you know what to expect from the festival?
I am expecting gin, great art, exhaustion, hysteria, hope, berroca and late night chips.
Who would you recommend comes to see you?
People who like their politics served up with hilarity, people who like beautiful choral singing, anyone who secretly envies someone close to them...
Timings and ticket information for Our Carnal Hearts are available on the edfringe website.
