Tell us a bit about Ambivert

Ambivert is my second solo show and you know what they say... first the worst; second the best! The show is about how hard it is being a young, white, middle class artist with access to everything. Something we can all get on board with.

What sets it apart from other shows at the Fringe?

It is on at 6.20pm in the Attic at Just The Tonic, like literally no other 2017 fringe show.

Are you working on any special skills for the show?

Other than my stand-up comedy skills? Is that not enough?!! Actually, I have been trying to improve my juggling skills. I've also been getting back into painting. I'm painting the poster and flyer for my show. Though, that's probably more of a procrastination technique rather than a special skill...

Who would you recommend comes to see you?

I don't want to make assumptions that a particular type of person will like or dislike my show (although I definitely spend the five minutes before I go on assuming that everyone will hate me). People surprise you though! I'm still trying to work out my target audience. In past fringes I've been lucky enough to perform to students, babies, old people, hen-dos dressed as pirates and stag-dos dressed as drunk lecherous men. I could say my show is for middle class millennials but that's not necessarily true... though it's probably a bit true, let's be honest.

Are there any other shows you're hoping to catch at the festival?

Yes! What would you have done if I'd just said 'no'?

I am looking forward to seeing Amy Annette: What Women Want. Her shows are always thought provoking and great, even if she does insist on performing at the Edinburgh equivalent of the crack of dawn (12:15pm). Stuart Laws: Stops will be brilliant. We have done a few previews together and he is objectively very funny. He is also my current boyfriend.

Annie McGrath is previewing her new show 'Ambivert' in London on 20th July (Tabard Theatre) and 21st July (Pleasance Islington) before taking it to the Edinburgh Fringe (Just the Tonic at The Mash House, 6.20pm, 3rd - 27th August)
