BWW speaks to Frank Tamburin, producer of Dusty Horne's Sound And Fury, ahead of its run at the 2016 Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
Who is Dusty Horne?
The greatest foley artist of all time, in her own mind at least. Dusty's recorded sound effects for all the greats: Jimmy Stewart, Boris Karloff, Alfred Hitchcock, but she's never gotten the credit she deserves. Until now. It's 1963 and Dusty finally has a chance to share her craft, tell her story, and show the world that she is the true keeper of the secret world of foley. Why did you decide to tell her story? It's evocative to be transported by live sound effects - and thrilling to watch someone sync live sounds to films: footsteps, gunshots, breaking bones! All these sounds we take for granted while watching films or TV, but someone has to perform them. Our play is a fascinating glimpse at those artists behind the scenes that we hear but rarely get a chance to see.Timings and ticket information for Dusty Horne's Sound And Fury are available on the edfringe website.
