Florida Repertory Theatre will present “Advice,” a new comedy by Brent Askari making its National New Play Network Rolling World Premiere. The play runs December 9, 2025 through January 11, 2026 in the ArtStage Studio Theatre.

“Advice” takes a lively and irreverent look at friendship, ambition and the messy fallout of giving (and getting) well-intentioned but ill-fated life-advice. The story follows Joy and Ron, who on the eve of their anniversary learn their well-meaning but clueless friend Gary has written a self-help book. Before the pair has time to digest the news, Gary shows up on their doorstep ready to subject them to his couple-exercises. What begins as a reluctant favor turns into an uproarious unraveling of secrets that rocks the foundation of their relationship.

"‘Advice’ is sharp, hilarious, and uncomfortably relatable for anyone who’s ever tried to fix someone else’s life… or their own,” said Greg Longenhagen, Florida Repertory Theatre’s producing artistic director. “The clever premise, witty dialogue, and dose of emotional truth, promises to deliver laughs and leave you thinking.”

The cast features returning New York-based actors Jennifer Byrne (“Shear Madness”) and Patrick Richwood (“Lucky Stiff”) alongside John Long making his Florida Rep debut. All three actors have extensive experience on stages across the country, on television, and in film.

Florida Repertory is a self-producing theatre company that crafts one-of-a-kind theatrical productions expertly designed and directed by theatre professionals. Longenhagen is joined by ensemble set designer Richard Crowell (“Bloomsday”), Costume Designer Kristina Tollefson (“Boca”), ensemble lighting designer Todd O. Wren (“The Rat Pack Lounge”), sound designer Katie Lowe (“Doubt: A Parable”), with stage management by ensemble member Janine Wochna (“Venus In Fur”).
