Symphony San Jose Chorale to Present SERENADE TO MUSIC at Mission Santa Clara
Conductor Elena Sharkova leads works by Arvo Pärt, Jake Runestad, and Pulitzer winner Caroline Shaw.
Symphony San José Chorale and Symphony San José will present "Serenade to Music" on Saturday, April 25, 2025 at 7:30pm at Mission Santa Clara.
Symphony San José Chorale and Symphony San José under the direction of Elena Sharkova, present a program of choral-orchestral music featuring works from Arvo Pärt, Jake Runestad and Caroline Shaw.
The artists include conductor Elena Sharkova, the Symphony San Jose Chorale, and musicians of Symphony San Jose. The program features Salve Regina by Arvo Pärt; Proud Music of the Storm, Come to the Woods, Sing, Wearing the Sky, and The Hope of Loving by Jake Runestad; and and the swallow by Caroline Shaw. The concert length is approximately one hour.
Experience an evening of choral music with the Symphony San Jose Chorale. Arvo Pärt's spellbinding Salve Regina unfolds with quiet reverence and meditative beauty. Works by Jake Runestad evoke the tenderness of the human condition. Closing the program is Pulitzer Prize winner Caroline Shaw's and the swallow, which brings vivid poetry to life with shimmering textures and playful intimacy.
Symphony San José Chorale performs classical masterworks and contemporary music with the symphony, as well as a wide range of pieces, from jazz to liturgical and everything in between. Performances include Movies in Concert, acapella programs, and appearances with smaller instrumental groups in San Jose and peninsula locations throughout the San Francisco Bay area. Maestra Elena Sharkova, who directs the Symphony San José Chorale and the Cantabile Youth Singers, is an internationally recognized conductor, lecturer and master teacher.
