Rep East Opens ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOOS NEST 3/13

By:

The Repertory East Playhouse is proud to open its 2009 Season with One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest, written by Dale Wasserman and sponsored by Mission View Public Schools "We really wanted to lighten up and this is the perfect piece to do so. We have a wonderful cast and we are all very excited to be a part of this production" says Artistic Director Ovington Michael Owston.

One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest opens on Friday, March 13, with an Opening Night Gala at 7:00pm and curtain at 8:00pm. Opening Night Gala is sponsored by Travel Center Santa Clarita with wine and food sponsored by Loose Goose Wine Festival and RSVP Catering.

One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest will run through April 11. Show times are Friday and Saturdays at 8:00pm and Sundays at 2:00pm. Tickets are $18 for Adults and $16 for students and seniors. Group rates are available. Advanced reservations are highly recommended. For tickets, purchase online at www.repeastplayhouse.org or call 661-288-0000. The Repertory East Playhouse is located at 24266 Main Street in Newhall, CA. 91321

The REP will host post show discussions immediately following each Sunday Matinee. Join the cast and crew for an intimate discussion about the process of creating live theatre.
The lead character is a charming rogue who contrives to serve a short sentence in an airy mental institution rather in a prison. This, he learns, was a mistake. He clashes with the head nurse, a fierce artinet. Quickly, he takes over the yard and accomplishes what the medical profession has been unable to do for twelve years; he makes a presumed deaf and dumb Indian talk. He leads others out of introversion, stages a revolt so that they can see the world series on television, and arranges a rollicking midnight party with liquor and chippies. For one offense, the head nurse has him submit to shock treatment. The party is too horrid for her and she forces him to submit to a final correction a frontal lobotomy. Winner of the 2001 Outer Critics Circle Award for Outstanding Revival.

Director and REP Managing Director Mikee Schwinn is at the helm of the Cuckoos cast that is led by Artistic Director Ovington Michael Owston. The cast also includes REP veterans Laura Clark Greaver, Brad Sergi, Tyrone "Tippy" Washington, Ryan Turner, Michael Bruce, Jymn Magon, Jeff Lucas and Amber Van Loon. Newcomers to the REP include Anderson Reid, Jeff Harman, Skip Pipo, Eric Bush, Gregor Manns, Dave Forster, and Hilary Barraford.
