Hiroshima Presents 'Christmas At The Rrazz Room' 12/17-20

By:

Hiroshima, a musical group merging jazz, R&B, and world music with an array of Japanese percussion and other native instruments will be at The Rrazz Room, Hotel Nikko, 222 Mason, SF from Dec 17-20. Shows are at 8 PM Dec 17, 18, at 7 PM and 9:30 PM on Dec 19th, and at 7 PM Dec 20. Tickets are $42.50-$47.50 and can be purchased at www.therrazzroom.com or directly through
www.ticketweb.com or 866 468 3399.

Hiroshima has assumed the artistic mission of bridging cultural divides through the power of music. Borrowing from numerous cultures - Asian, Latin American, African American and more - they merged these influences into a unique and innovative whole that is solely their own. The result is a brand of music that speaks to nearly every aspect of contemporary culture.
Hiroshima has always kept its eye on a distinctive One World philosophy which seamlessly blends Asian and North American culture to reflect both cultural and spiritual connections. This year marks 30 years since the band's unique combination of distinctively Japanese elements-June Kuramoto's classical flavored koto, Johnny Mori's booming taiko drum-with funky pop, urban and jazz sensibilities, and saxophonist and Dan Kuramoto, who, along with June, first formed the ensemble.
"We're always looking at things from a multicultural perspective," says Dan Kuramoto, the group's leader and producer. "We live in southern California, where the ethnic population is in the majority. We see this as the coolest thing about America. Its strength and its vision come from its multi-ethnicity. Those differences are going to give us the strength to be more unified. The more we homogenize, the more we give up that notion of cultural diversity, and the less we'll understand each other."
