Aurora Theatre Company Presents OLGA: A FAREWELL CONCERT

Aurora Theatre Company presents the special limited engagement of the second outing of OLGA - A Farewell Concert, a work-in-continual-progress created by Beth Wilmurt (The Letters, The Eccentricities of a Nightingale, Jack Goes Boating, Bosoms and Neglect, and Salome) and Her Band. Aurora commissioned the piece in 2017 as part of the company's Originate + Generate (O+G) new works initiative to promote the creation of forward-looking theater. OLGA - A Farewell Concert plays a limited run in the company's Second Stage and cabaret performance space, Harry's UpStage, just in time for the holidays.

"Cheers to an intoxicating 'Olga'... the perfect holiday elixir for drama junkies addicted to the pleasurable pangs of existential yearning." - Bay Area News Group

"Wilmurt's vision is that of art at its most generous. As a singer [she's] beguilingly unvarnished and conversational." - San Francisco Chronicle

You are once again cordially invited to the home of Olga Sergeyevna Prozorova for an evening of surprise hellos, stirring songs, and sad farewells. In this second outing of the critically acclaimed work-in-progress, Wilmurt and her band of soldiers embark on a journey through the inner life of Olga, the eldest sister in Anton Chekhov's play, Three Sisters-a character Wilmurt has been exploring for over a decade. For one certain-to-be-memorable week this December, Aurora once more hosts Wilmurt and her band for a rousing evening of theatrical songs inspired by Chekhov's Russians, viewed through a contemporary American lens. Snowy Siberia meets the American Songbook in this second edition of Wilmurt's poignant and imaginative O+G commission.
