Triad Productions Presents The Maiden's Prayer, Closes 1/23/11

New Years resolutions are around the corner and more than likely, yours aren't very original. Perhaps you plan to get in shape, quit smoking, or contribute more to your 401k? Triad Productions challenges you, the next generation of theatre-goer, to kick-off the New Year by supporting arts at the local level. It's easy, it's affordable, it's entertaining, and it sure as hell beats the Stairmaster.

While Americans sit glued to their smart phones, tweeting about reality TV, theatre is becoming the entertainment of yesteryear; an unapproachable and unaffordable luxury for the well-to-do. Triad Productions sees this as an opportunity to reshape the perception of theatre amongst the digital generation. With their balance of passion and know-how, Triad breaks stereotypes with bold selections and their unwavering commitment to produce theatre that speaks to a new generation of theatre-goer.

Triad Productions is pleased to announce Nicky Silver's The Maiden's Prayer as their first production of 2011 and their next step in reaching a new generation of theatre-goer. Triad Artistic Director, Adam Parker, returns to the helm to direct this hilarious and heartbreaking San Diego premier.

Picking up where romantic comedies leave off, we start at the wedding of Taylor (Jason Perkins) and Cynthia (Sam Ginn). Pregnant and newly married, their nuptials are soured by Cynthia's acid-tongued sister Libby (Rhianna Basore). Infatuated with Taylor, Libby is joined in her mourning by Taylor's best friend Paul (Nathan Caracter), who's been in love with him since childhood. Following this confused quartet is Andrew (James Darvas), who has a predilection for falling in love with men and their cable television. Through their eyes we see Taylor and Cynthia's perfect world begin to weaken, eventually buckling under a tragic loss. Libby and Paul commiserate over their own desires for Taylor, finding consolation in unlikely and often unsavory places. Heartbreakingly sad, unfairly true and absurdly hilarious, The Maiden's Prayer will leave you laughing, crying and cringing all in the same scene.

The Maiden's Prayer closes Sunday January 23rd, 2011. Performances are Wednesday through Saturday at 8pm and Sundays at 5pm at the Diversionary Theatre; located at 4545 Park Blvd, San Diego, CA 92116.
