The Old Globe Elects New Board Members for 2012

The Old Globe's Annual Meeting was held on January 30 on the Donald and Darlene Shiley Stage in the Old Globe Theatre, part of the Conrad Prebys Theatre Center. After a reception in the Ottenstein Lobby, Old Globe Board Chair Harold W. Fuson Jr. welcomed the Board of Directors and guests and announced the newly elected Board members. Interim Managing Director Michael G. Murphy gave an update on the Globe's financial position and presented highlights of the 2011 fiscal year, and the Globe's Artistic Director Emeritus Jack O'Brien spoke about the Globe's robust artistic history and its position in the American theatrical landscape. The meeting was followed by a reception and dinner for Board of Directors, Ambassadors and Founders Level Donors at the Prado Ballroom in Balboa Park's historic House of Hospitality.

Fuson announced that the current members of the Board of Directors Executive Committee will continue their terms in 2012. The committee consists of Fuson (Chair), Donald L. Cohn (Immediate Past Chair), Anthony S. Thornley (Vice Chair, Finance), Elaine Bennett Darwin (Vice Chair, Nominating), Harvey P. White (Secretary), Peter J. Cooper, Kathryn Hattox and Conrad Prebys. Joining the Executive Committee are Mary Beth Adderley and Paula Powers.

Fuson also announced that the following candidates identified by the Globe's Nominating Committee were formally elected to serve three-year terms on the Board of Directors: Nicole Clay, Silvija Devine, Karen Fox, Ramin Pourteymour, Paula Powers, Jim Wening, Lynne Wheeler and Karin Winner. Current Board members Elizabeth Altman, Pamela Cesak, Valerie S. Cooper, Sandra Redman, Daniel L. Sullivan, Ph.D., Julie H. Sullivan, Ph.D., Evelyn Mack Truitt and Debra Turner will be begin new consecutive three-year terms in 2012. The following Board members, whose terms of service concluded at the end of 2011, were honored for their outstanding commitment to The Old Globe: Dr. Marsha Chandler, Nanci Hull, Susan Major and Mitzi Yates-Lizarraga.

The Old Globe's Board of Directors also includes: Joseph Benoit, Pamela A. Farr, Victor P. Gálvez, Jean-Marie Hamel, Ph.D., Elizabeth Helming, Viviana Ibañez, Deni Jacobs, Daphne Jameson, Jo Ann Kilty, David Reagan, Sandra Redman, Reneé Schatz, Jean Shekhter, Ann Steck, Dean Thorp, Stacey LeVasseur Vasquez, Crystal Watkins, June Yoder, Carolyn Yorston-Wellcome and Vicki Zeiger.

After the meeting, the Board and guests adjourned to the annual Board of Directors & Ambassadors Reception and Dinner held in the Prado Ballroom. The celebratory evening featured performances by Tony Award winner Karen Ziemba and Will Reynolds (accompanied by music director Boko Suzuki), who star in the Globe's upcoming World Premiere musical A Room with a View, which will run March 2 – April 8 on the Donald and Darlene Shiley Stage in the Old Globe Theatre, part of the Conrad Prebys Theatre Center.

The Tony Award-winning Old Globe is one of the country's leading professional regional theaters and has stood as San Diego's flagship arts institution for 75 years.
