"Sing For State" - a cabaret to help save San Diego State University's Musical Theatre Master of Fine Arts degree program featuring former students of SDSU's Theatre program now living and working in New York City will be held on Monday, May 10 at Swing 46 (349 W. 46th Street - NYC). The performance begins at 6:30PM. Ticket prices begin at $10 and are available through SmartTix.com and on the night of the event at the door.

All proceeds from "Sing For State" will be donated to support SDSU's Musical Theatre Master of Fine Arts degree program.

Due to California state budget cuts, San Diego State University's MFA degree in Musical Theatre is in jeopardy of losing all funding resulting in the end of the highly sought-after curriculum. This MFA program is one of only four graduate programs in the nation to offer a degree in Musical Theatre and the only program to offer the degree in two years in the country.

"Sing For State" will feature alumni from the SDSU MFA Musical Theatre program and Theatre program including: Jenny Bates (Zipper Factory), Cari Bell, Rian Bodner, Jill Gould (Theatre Works), Jamie Kalama, Heddy Lahmann, Ryan McKinney (Gallery Players), Eric Moore (NY Fringe Festival), Dan Morrison, Amy Rogers and Kasey Staples. Brad Vieth accompanies on piano. Ryan McKinney musical directs.

Illustrious alumni from SDSU's Theatre program include: Marion Ross, Kathy Najimi, Merideth Kaye Clark (Wicked), Ivan Hernandez (Yank), Cleavon Little and Julie Kavner.

The performance begins at 6:30pm. Swing 46 offers a 2-for-1 happy hour from 6-8pm and a price-fix menu for $25. For dinner reservations, call 212-262-9554. The evening's festivities will also include a raffle with tickets for $1 each and swing dancing immediately following the cabaret.

Tickets are available now through www.SmartTix.com. For more information about Swing 46, visit www.Swing46.com or call 212-262-9554.
