Pacific Arts Movement Seeks New Executive Director

By:

With the upcoming retirement of its founder, the Board of Pacific Arts Movement (Pac Arts), a nonprofit media arts organization in San Diego County, is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Executive Director. Pac Arts founder and Executive Director Lee Ann Kim plans to retire in April to focus on her family after more than 16 years of service.

"We're grateful to Lee Ann for her many years of leadership and setting up a strong foundation for the next Executive Director to build upon," says Stephen Chin, Pac Arts board member and Chairman Emeritus. "Today, Pac Arts is fiscally stronger than it has ever been before. With an engaged board, passionate staff, loyal members and volunteers, and successful programs and partnerships, we're confident these factors will attract quality candidates to lead us into our next chapter." Chin is co-chairing the search committee with fellow board member, Wendy Gillespie.

"Lee Ann's contributions to San Diego and Asian American cinema are immeasurable," says Pac Arts Artistic Director Brian Hu. "The entire staff looks forward to building upon that momentum and continue enriching the national dialogue about equity in the media and the achievements of Asian and Asian American artists."

Pacific Arts Movement is in its 17th season of programming and is best known for presenting the San Diego Asian Film Festival (SDAFF), which has grown to become one of the largest film festivals of its kind in North America. Pac Arts serves more than 20,000 people each year through its year-round programs which include an award-winning youth documentary training program called Reel Voices. The Executive Director is part of a team of six FTE employees, more than 100 volunteers and an operating budget approaching $1 million.

The Board invites resumes from individuals with a record of demonstrated leadership and success at an executive level with capabilities including fundraising, board development, staff and program management, marketing and public/community relations. The ideal candidate is a mission-driven, strategic leader who thrives in a team environment, and fully embraces the role of the arts in culturally elevating a community.
