Moira Keefe will present her one-woman show; MY YEAR OF LIVING ANXIOUSLY at the North Coast Rep in Solana Beach on October 19 and October 26 at 7:30 PM.

Keefe's kinetic stream of consciousness monologues are known for their hilarious, brutally, honest commentary on contemporary life.

MY YEAR OF LIVING ANXIOUSLY, her latest work, looks at the complicated life of a member of the "sandwich generation" wedged between aging parents, hormonal teenagers and psychiatric bologna. Drawing on the diaries her father kept for 63 years , letters from her mother, and scientific studies, Keefe weaves generational perspectives on real-life events and traumas. Keefe reveals her growing respect for her parents as the diaries and letters expose the storm of parenthood that they weathered. Keefe quells her own perimenopausal parental anxiety by visiting psychiatrists whose only job these days is to dole out drugs. Keefe refers to shrinks as certified legal drug pushers.

This work contains Keefe's trademark wisecracking humor and wacky sensibility as well as touching revelations.
Keefe has toured extensively as a solo performer with her pieces, LIFEAFTERBIRTH, LIFE BEFORE SEX, LIFE BEFORE THE CRISIS , THE CRISIS, LIFE WITH A TEENAGER and in STAYING MARRIED, her collaboration with Charlie Oates. Her work has been seen in theatres and festivals in North America, Europe and the Pacific including the Dublin Theatre Festival (Ireland), The Wellington Fringe (New Zealand), the Victory Theatre (Los Angeles) and the Post Theatre Company (New York). Most recently she was seen at the SD Rep. In 2011 she will be performing in theatres in Colorado, Montana,
New York and Canada
In 1996, Keefe moved from the mountains of Colorado to Encinburbia. The Spouse
(Charlie Oates), is the movement director in the MFA program at UCSD. Her oldest daughter Scoop (Brianna) is serving time in the Peace Corps in the Dominican Republic where she has earned herself the nickname Brianna Obama. Her younger daughter Rocky (Rakaia) is a champ on the Debate Team and will graduate from San Dieguito Academy in June 2011.
