Lamb's Players Hold GODSPELL Auditions On 4/18, Production Dates Not Yet Set

Lamb's Players Theatre will be holding auditions on April 18, 2009 for Godspell, the next show to be produced at the theatre's new space downtown at the Horton Grand Theatre. Directing the show is LPT's Producing Artistic Director Robert Smyth, with musical direction by G. Scott Lacy. Auditions will be held at Lamb's Players Theatre at 1142 Orange Avenue in Coronado, CA.

"Lamb's Players Theatre is looking for Jesus," says Smyth. "Seriously, it's a tough role to cast, so we are casting a wider net. This Godspell will be multi-ethnic, funny, edgy and theatrical. We're excited to return to a production that holds a special place in our repertoire. No one does Godspell like Lamb's Players."

LPT is casting the role of Jesus and a multi-cultural ensemble. Male and female performers in their 20s and 30s must be triple threats - outstanding singer / dancer / actors. Each auditioning performer should prepare 32 bars of a song from Godspell that shows their dynamic range, along with a one-minute comic monologue. An accompanist will be provided but performers must bring their own sheet music in the key they wish played. Two copies of resumés and headshots are also required. Both AEA and non-union contracts are available.

Godspell will be performed this summer at the Horton Grand Theatre, located at 444 4th Avenue in downtown San Diego's Gaslamp Quarter. Dates for the production have not been set.
