37th ANNUAL TEJANO MUSIC AWARDS & DANCE Announced

The Texas Talent Musicians Association (TTMA), producers of the 37th Annual Tejano Music Awards (TMA's), have announced Saturday, October 21, 2017, as the official date for this year's awards show. This year's awards will mark its 37th year as the only major and longest-running event to recognize the Tejano music genre.

From the moment the THE BODYGUARD THE MUSICAL begins, the audience is immediately riveted towards the action and suspense happening on the stage. Start to finish, this production had the audience sitting on the edge of their seats. Even if you saw the movie THE BODYGUARD with Whitney Houston and Kevin Costner, there were still many twists, turns and surprises. You dared not look away from the action even for a moment. It was worth every second and every penny to be entertained from beginning to end.

Notre-Dame de Paris is a novel published in 1831 and written by famous author Victor Hugo. As it became popular throughout the world, THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME became a beloved Disney story which later became a stage production. Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz added new music to be included in this production. The Playhouse San Antonio was privileged to present the Texas premiere to a full theater. And the audience was very impressed.

Jump-Start Performance Co. is hosting THE BRUNCH OF CHAMPIONS on Sunday, October 8, 2017, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at La Tuna Ice House, 100 Probandt. Three champions of Creativity, Connection and Courage will be honored, and proceeds from the fundraising event will support the artistic programming of Jump-Start's 2017-2018 season. Jump-Start's champions are Zet Baer, John McBurney and Martha Prentiss. Each one has a long history with the non-profit, as a theatre artist and as a supporter. Each discovered Jump-Start in its early days and has been part of the company's extended family for at least 25 years, following it from spaces on S. Alamo and at Blue Star Arts Complex to its current home in Beacon Hill.

The Playhouse in San Antonio opened its production of HAIRSPRAY to a nearly sold-out crowd on July 7, 2017. There was a lot of buzz about this production, especially about Director Omar Leos. It seemed that everyone had high hopes for this production as Leos prepared the cast. And as it turns out, there was no disappoint in this production of HAIRSPRAY. It is an audience favorite in general and it's obvious to see that The Playhouse delivered a topnotch production.
