Woodlawn Theatre Presents 9 TO 5: THE MUSICAL in August
Woodlawn Theatre has announced that the Tony Award and Drama Desk nominated '9 to 5: The Musical' will make its way to their mainstage this August.
Special Guest, Rick Sanchez, winner of 7 ATAC Awards, directs this hit musical with "flair and has put together an unbelievable team of talent from all across the board. Starring Melissa Gonzalez as Violet, Sara Brooks as Doralee, Mary Morrow as Judy, and Kurt Wehner as the sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot Mr. Hart, '9 to 5' shows just how hilarious it is when three unlikely friends conspire to take control of their company and learn there's nothing they can't do - even in a man's world!"
'9 to 5: The Musical' marked the Broadway debut of seven-time Grammy Award winning singer, songwriter and musician Dolly Parton as composer and lyricist. "I couldn't have asked for a better experience on my first Broadway show," said Dolly Parton. "I've had the privilege of working with an amazing group of people who have become like family to me. I can't wait for this show to hit the road so people across the country can see why I'm so proud of everyone involved." The show's book is by Patricia Resnick, co-writer of the original screenplay.
'9 to 5' is a hilarious story of friendship and revenge in the Rolodex era. Outrageous, thought-provoking, highly energetic and even a little romantic, '9 to 5: The Musical' is about teaming up and taking care of business... it's about getting credit and getting even. The show's choreographer, Christopher Rodriguez, who's orchestrated some amazing dance numbers, has been a fan of the show since he first heard the cast recording and is anxious to showcase the many varied dance styles the show has to offer.
Opening August 24, the show will run through September 16, with performances Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30PM, and Sunday matinees at 3:00PM. Buy your tickets now and see why "Gettin' even is a full-time job!"
