USITT 2016 Offers AIA Approved Theatre Architecture Sessions in Salt Lake City

By:

USITT's Architecture Commission has built an impressive array of sessions for USITT 2016 in Salt Lake City - with most carrying AIA Continuing Education credits that architects need to keep their licenses current.

USITT 2016 offers 16 architecture sessions, with 14 approved for AIA CES credit. The event runs March 16-19 at Salt Lake's Salt Palace Convention Center.

USITT considers architecture an important discipline in the world of performing arts and live entertainment design and technology. Attending USITT 2016 is an economical way for architects to gain knowledge on the latest in performance space design and earn many credits at one event.

USITT 2016 architecture sessions include:

- A Look at Environmental Comfort for Audiences, with Greg Cook of Holabird & Root. Wed., March 16, 6-7:15 p.m.
Cook will lead a panel exploring innovative contemporary approaches to integrating sustainable design practices that affect audience comfort into theatre design.

- Space Programming for Performing Arts Facilities, a Hands-On Introduction, with Robert Long of Theatre Consultants Collaborative. Thurs., March 17, 1-2:30 p.m. A workshop on creating simple, full-scale floor plans for theatre support spaces leading to the design or renovation of performance venues.

- Media Tecture II - How Projection is Animating Interior Architecture, with Mark Holden of Jaffe/Holden Acoustics. Thurs., March 17, 5:30-6:45 p.m. A discussion of how projection is being used in a theatrical way to bring movement and intrigue to interior environments.

These and many other compelling sessions make it easy for architects to earn several classes worth of AIA credits at one big event that also offers Stage Expo with over 260 exhibitors of technical theatre equipment and products.

USITT's 2016 Architecture Awards on Friday, March 18, and the Ideal Theatre: Student Design Competition Awards on Sat., March 19, also carry AIA credits.

USITT is the national non-profit for performing arts and live entertainment production professionals. It offers year-round training, networking, resources, and recognition for the technical theatre community. For more info, visit www.usitt.org.

USITT's Annual Conference & Stage Expo is the only complete production event in North America. It has 275-plus educational sessions and over 260 exhibitors of the latest products for outfitting theatres and stages and creating live productions.
